Come into the Utopia brother, we’d love to have ya.
Applications, wonder what the vetting process was like
Big foam hands to clap yourself silly
And a box of tissues for every time they open a pop up bar or fanzone
Naa I’ll stay out the Utopia
And keep sniping from the side… in the dystopia
@BillyBescot I’ve decided yam just saft
That my man, we can 100% agree on.
Perhaps we have been jilted and now they only have eyes for Drogheda, Silkeborg and Trivela Togo FC
I have heard they have been meeting and in conversation with the focus groups on a regular basis from what I have been told from someone in them
But they have no need to publish minutes - from what I gather a fair number of the suggestions made by the supporters have been put into practice
Not sure why we have suddenly switched on Trivela and fan forum meetings, this is on Sadler and the players, trivela have sufficiently supported Sadler. No one could have imagined such a drop in form in the second half of the season.
I’m of the mindset that Sadler needs to go to improve our chances of promotion but even that is clutching at straws. But i know the fan base is split on whether to keep or sack Sadler, so while this is the case i dont see Trivela making a the decision to sack him.
Any meeting. With any group. Should be minuted snd relayed to the Wider fanbase via all media platforms. Associated with the club
Not only. Is it the correct way to do things it safeguards. All concerned. Taking part in said meetings
Things that are contributed at these aren’t typically done in a set-up that a supporters group would engage with the fans
When you look at sport in a larger sense, focus groups like these are very rarely made public because they are for shared ideas
I know you will disagree, but I really think you are making a mountain out of a molehill regarding these
If they were inviting supports groups to official meetings, as used to be the case, the yes I agree they should be. But these groups from everything i have been told work in a very different way
I’ve sat in countless. Meetings. , Focus groups. ,
Steering committees. Etc etc
But I’ve never sat in one that has. Not been minuted
So even tho I respect your opinion. Yes I disagree
I think you may be confusing different types of working parties because some have an obligation due to the rules of the sports organising body, whereas what the fan focus groups do are extremely different. Ones I have experience in, both small and local sports clubs and some large international sports organisers operate exactly how Walsall are.
As @Peel85 said, there are much bigger things at play than the minutes of a fan focus group who, from those involved, cannot speak highly enough of the discussions and ways of working and how productive they have been
I have always been a big advocate for communication and transparency, however we don’t need the minutes of every single idea and suggestion made my fans in these groups to be written up for the world to read. I imagine a lot won’t be realistic or pheasable, and we will be pushing for a summary of what progress has been made, rather than every single conversation had
I kinda get that. To be honest, the off the field stuff has been great. No arguments from me.
However… where is the forum or best place to hold the club accountable for what matters most for all of us - what happens on the field.
I’d like to know what the club thinks about this current situation - and what are the plans for the future. My guess is they’ll try and put it off for as long as possible.
Big difference between a focus group with individual supporters and working party meetings between the club and supporters groups with a membership base that they represent and have an obligation to report back to.
Exactly this point made much more eloquently than mine
The question is whether these type of meetings with supporters groups will come back or not, and why they were stopped
No doubt they will say something on the subject when the season is over, whether it’s ended badly or not. I can’t see there being a fans forum to discuss it. It would be great if they did though. A bit of transparency would help massively and supporters would understand more their beliefs on the way things have panned out
Canned in late May 2022, Trivela takeover was 6th June. Don’t think they’ll be back.
Any idea why?
I think the suggestion was that they were no longer productive.
Friction between representative groups didn’t help, nor did the club dodging difficult questions (refer to a head of department, ‘commercial sensitivity’ etc) and then there was the fall-out of ‘minute-gate’.
Ultimately, LP needed to shut it down before the new owners moved in, possibly by their request but more likely because he knew it was an increasingly bad look.
