I will get behind him if there is reason to.
There currently isn’t any reason why I will back that manager. Incompetent and made us look a laughing stock.

I sort of agree with this sentiment actually (despite being very Sadler out).
I’m not sure this signing is enough to relax us but the striker point is correct and so is the part about not banging on about Sadler out.
In my opinion he should have been sacked and I’d like to see him go now as I don’t think he’s good enough to lead us to promotion. The fact remains that he won’t get sacked now, so it’s pointless to keep calling for it.
I’m just going to sit back and see how it plays out despite the fact that I’m really unhappy with him as manager. Either I’m right and he’ll be sacked in short order or I’m wrong and we’re storming the league again.
For me though as much as I can cheer for the team on matchdays, I can’t turn off all emotion and back the manager without him giving me something to get behind.
I think the issue for me is that I have zero confidence or faith in him - given what’s happened.
It’s up to Trivela and Sadler to win that faith back. Over to them.
I agree completely.
In my opinion, he’ll fail and he’s gone. The alternative is that he succeeds and we’re doing well. We’ve just got to see how it plays out.
The difficult thing is that even if he’s 12 points clear, the fans won’t be completely sold on him this time. If he starts very well, I can see him jumping ship at the first possible opportunity - I would in his position.
I just can’t get the thought out of my head of Levi and gordon up front
100% mate they need to do something big in this window break our transfer record for a proven player etc nothing else will be good enough for some of our fanbase you only have to see the reaction from some to yesterday’s signing cheap non League etc etc they need something to get them back onside.
A proven striker will cost 3/4k a week at this level will they pay it?
Prolific!
The problem for me is that I wouldn’t be blown away by this now. I saw our team last season as extremely strong and we totally lost our way. Hall, Chang, Stirk, Jellis and Adomah gives us 5 of the strongest midfielders in the division - or at least a 5 that could dominate almost any side in league two.
We didn’t play to our strengths at all. Comley was ahead of Chang for a long time, Adomah was played upfront.
Regardless of the squad, I won’t believe that Sadler is the man to take us up until he does it.
People talk about a statement striker on big money being needed. We’ve done it for the last 2 seasons. DJ was the first and Sadler made a mess of it. The next one was Josh Gordon - totally the wrong player.
If we give Sadler a big budget, I don’t trust him to build the right squad to take us up and even if he does will he play the best players to their strengths using tactics to suit the squad or the shoehorn in the players that fit his pre-defined tactics?
Wasn’t DJ supposed to be on 3K?
No need, we don’t require any strikers…we’ve got Flush & Levi up front! Sadler obviously thinks they will ‘strike’ the fear of god into all the 4th division defences…they will all fall down laughing so much!
Now that we are stuck with this incompetent excuse of a manager, I believe that no forwards will be recruited, after all he has always said that goals will come from everywhere…mostly into our net!
Underwhelming.
Was hoping for more of a “Statement” signing but it is what it is. I’ll judge him when/if he plays.
I’d like to see Sadler held to account for what happened from January onwards. Not with his yes men from the clubs media team ( we all know what his favorite colour is,or whether he prefers cats or dogs). I agree he is going to be the manager next season, but at this moment in time I won’t be there to watch it. I’d like to see him turn up at the fans forum in July, I know he won’t because that would mean admitting his part in it. If we have a bad start to the season the fans will have their say and Trivela won’t be able to protect him.
Agreed, but so much has been stated about players been tired yet still been played. It certainly looked that way to me tbh
So what the hell was the sports science dept doing alongside the fitness coach. They are supposed to manage and monitor minutes and fitness indicators. So were they incompetent or was there advice ignored (unforgivable in my book) or were the players physically ok but mentally drained.
What were the rest of the management team doing. I question if the team and senior players are just too nice, who kicks ass when needed in the dressing room
Personally I don’t hold MS solely responsible it’s a collective failure but as head of the team albeit inexperienced the figure must be pointed at him first.
ATM more questions than answers
Good post. My guess is that it was largely left to the players to say whether they felt ok to play. You often hear Managers say , especially when an injury occurs, that I asked him if he was ok. I can just imagine when LG came back from the international break MS asking him are you feeling ok to play ? Liam being committed to the cause would say yes without thinking!
I am not defending that approach and like you I would like to know what the science was saying.Lots of information is collected these days and surely that was telling the coaching team that the wing backs in particular needed a rest.
Didn’t Sadler say at some point in the second half of the season he didnt believe in players being fatigued, or have I totally misremembered that
I’ve seen that referred to on here, but I don’t know if or when he actually said it. In a similar vein, I’ve got a vague memory round about Dec / Jan of hearing that Jamma’s stats showed he was very near exhaustion, which would fit with his performances from then on. Anyone else remember that?
Anymore signings imminent @WestieJack
I don’t have a clear memory but I’m sure he said something like that but it wasn’t stats based from what I recall
However he wasn’t going to answer the question by saying” oh yeah I just sent a knackered bunch of players out there “ was he
The question is to me anyway if it was based on evidence that they were fit where did it come from and who challenged it
Imo we need more than one proven player ie forward this season. At least 3 in the spine of the team. There could be at least 12 signings needed with the outgoings. Massive overhaul and it will need a good start to the season else the natives will become restless. Upto Trivela and Sadler to get us firing asap. Hopefully it happens
Even if Sadler somehow didn’t realise that some players were fatigued (most fans seemed to notice) then some of them should have been dropped based on performances.
His job is to manage the group to produce results.
