Flags

I have a flag from Our trip to Wembley. Would be good if someone wanted to put it on display each game. I know some folk put flags up in the tile choice. Any of those guys interested?

Sid Swifty might be interested as it brings back special memories (sorry Sid ).

Magazines and flags? Are you moving house and trying to find someone to take all the accumulated crap off your hands because it’s too far to the local tip? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Used to love the away games when the big flags , union jacks usually with Walsall printed in capital letters through the middle used to be put across the back windows of all the coaches and everyone draped their scarves off the overhead luggage shelf and let them hang down the windows , used to look great travelling down the motorways and when we all arrived in a Police escorted convoy at the oppositions grounds and everyone giving the vees and shining through the windows … :grinning:

Most coaches , especially the ISSA one has the tinted windows where no one can hardly see through them from the outside so renders this practice futile now … :man_shrugging:

Think the stadiums with all the flags waving looks great too , Dortmund being probably one of the most impressive .

Think Watford have quite a good amount of flags and banners waving around , and I think it adds to the atmosphere greatly .

Agree with that. Might be a good idea to get the ball boys to do bit of flag waving when we score, esp down our end. Works well at Arsenal.

As long as they give them some decent sized flags , not like the poxy things they wave as the teams come out .

Think it needs to be someone a little older and bigger to do the flag waving when we score , with some big flags

What a shame Gaffney has left, he might have been useful at that.

The difference between most english clubs and the rest of europe is that fans here expect the club to sort all that. In germany the supporters clubs are making the flags and organising the waving etc.

In fact. I held myself back here. What I meant was ‘we should get off our backsides and organise something’, rather than relying on the club to do something and then complaining when it isnt up to standard. I live in Norway so difficult for me to make flags but happy to provide some funding/order materials/whatever needs doing

I know what you mean and I wasn’t implying the club should do this .
I know ISSA had a large flag made,
and have it draped at venues away usually outside a pub , and I’ll ask if they would be prepared with the funding of like minded supporters if they couldn’t come up with some specials made and get some of the grassroot teams they help financially if they couldn’t get some of the young players involved at the home games to do the waving , and if the club would be in favour of this happening

No worries. I have noticed a trend amongst fans (not just ours) of expecting the club to do this. I feel like the clubs should facilitate it but the fans should make efforts. Anyway, if anyone has any ideas I am happy to help.

I suppose I was implying a little reading back :man_facepalming:

wasn’t meant like that just a little dig at the crap flags they use now :grinning:

Some of the flags the fans make in Europe, particularly Germany, are seriously impressive. Well designed, large, add to the atmosphere and enforce club identities. It would be great if we could have some designed and made to place around the stadium. There’s plenty of empty seats to cover.

Anyone remember , when they were rebuilding the upper tier, that single flag they had at the back of it with, " Forza Walsall," on it?

Yep, someone better than me come up with a design

Looks the same, yes.

Had a word with Olly from ISSA regarding getting some flags manufactured and some of the young football teams players they help fund doing some flag waving so hopefully we can get something moving on this
