Fleetwood (H) - League Two - Tue 1 Oct, 7.45pm

Sometimes there are bridges which are just too far.

Fleetwood will be top three

Young sides have days like today just like they have games like Saturday

Rather take a loss like that in October than next April

83 points is still ours to own

18 Wins
11 draws
10 defeats

To go

We’ve got this - (slightly less) Mean Machine

Was looking at Opta’s stats and they have an “expected” table which they had Fleetwood in 2nd before tonight’s game. I’m not sure of the stats behind it but they’re now top of that table unsurprisingly after tonight. Have us in 4th. I was quite impressed by them tonight.

On the bright side though at least I won’t be on a coach travelling to the arse end of Blackpool listening to a set of fans singing the same bloody song all evening. Most irritating set of fans I think I’ve ever been in the presence of.

I hate to say this, but it’s true.Fleetwood played us of the park in the 2nd half, we had no answers.
When was the last time we were thumped by 6 at home?
Very depressing. The bubble has burst, we were taken to task tonight and I hope we bloody well learn from it.
I’m not going to name call, but everyone was off tonight, those that had really bad games know it.
Lets hope this is a one off and we can re-group and start the campaign again.
Tonight’s embarrassment is something I never want to witness again.

Fleetwood are a good team with some very good players for this level . Sadler must shoulder some of the blame on this occasion though for not shuffling the pack abit and keeping his players fresh .

Even worse at their ground when they score, they play captain pugwash on the tannoy system

That was abysmal.

The league table means nothing after 9 games. We have seen little snippets of that performance in games so far, and today it manifested itself into 70-80 mins, so we know this team has it in them to turn in that kind of performance, the question now is how many across the season are they capable of turning in?

Personally think it was a game to far for the defence, especially the middle three. McEntee starts when fit, and you’d be thinking Daniels also, so at least one of those three if not two are making way. Okagbue would be at the top of that list, ha Williams looks a better player than him at present.

The issue for me tonight was when your back three are having a torrid time you need you keeper to step up and command and calm everything. Simkin did neither. Worryingly that performance will have broadcasted to the rest of the league where to apply pressure. He has however been brought in as the No1 so I wouldn’t drop him, I think that would be the worse course of action. Arm round the shoulder and let’s see what this new goalkeeping coach is all about.

We looked leggy at the end, is that due to games, our style of play or a mixture of both. Not sure I’m seeing much in the Matt/Lowe partnership either at this stage.

County have gone and beaten Carlisle away tonight, after a defeat at home to Gills and a draw away to Morecambe. Don’t want to spook anyone but today is the 1st October and we do tend to have poor runs in October and November, we need a result on Saturday :grimacing::see_no_evil:

Coventry at home in League 1 quite a while back, we lost 6-1 but we lost 8-2 away at Bristol City on the last day of the Wembley season

Decent side Fleetwood .But 4 or 5 real poor individual errors and everyone punished with a goal .there was always a certain amount of risk with a least a couple of players in this side .and sooner or later Lady Luck would desert us .I’ve said before this season we’ve got away with mistakes a few times, tonight we didn’t.Next game will be important need to but this behind us big job for Sadler and coaching staff to do .

Remember it well as I was laying slabs in the garden that day. Weather was nice!

Well, and let in 6

Poretentious.

Thought that was a poor attendance tonight considering the link up offer was expecting around 5 k tbh especially after Saturdays result and our position in the table

What a crazy night.

I said to the kids at half time I wouldn’t be surprised if they came back and beat us.

There is obviously no excuse for losing 6-2 at home, but Fleetwood had done their homework on us, and look a very good side. It’s only one game but I’d expect them to be up there, even if their defence looked a bit shakey at times.

Bit surprised he didn’t rotate just a little to freshen things up, but regardless too many players had a mare.

Hopefully, it is just a freak result. It’s a long season, games come thick and fast, need to bounce back now.

No need for the pile-on with Simkin, he will know he has had a nightmare, but he isn’t shite. Confidence will be low now though of course.

I wore my lucky socks which have served us well. They are so thin now they are almost like tights, and need to go in the bin. Been hanging on to them, but it is now time for them to go. RIP.

For me that was a tired performance. We started so well and looked lively, our movement looking great.

We scored two scrappy goals but I’d say they were deserved, but those goals were almost our undoing - we invited Fleetwood on to us and they grabbed the invite with both hands. By the time they had nicked an equaliser and then in quick succession taken the lead, we had no answer as our legs had gone.

Our movement, passing and concentration in the 2nd half was so far off what it’s been this season - but that is to be expected after 3 games in a week.

Still very early in the season for me - although we are looking a more rounded side than we were last season thanks to our ability to keep the ball for longer periods, how much of a long term impact that will have on the league position remains to be seen.

Think we had too many players that simply didn’t show up tonight, even in our 20 minutes worth of dominance - Matt; Lowe; Lakin all worked hard but produced little. Even Barrett looked off it.

But hey, this is life in League 2, it is Saturday-Tuesday-Saturday-Tuesday for several weeks, and we have to learn to adapt. My worry is that at no point this season that I’ve seen have we been able to make subs and keep the same tactics. Our go-to subs are Adomah for Matt, Earing for Lakin/Jellis, Cleary/DJ for Lowe - but these changes seem to give us slightly different shape and we lose any momentum.

Not too fussed about tonight, annoyed we conceded 6 because of the damage it might do, so would have preferred a 0-1.

Without a doubt he’ll make changes for Saturday now, whereas he could’ve rest one or two tonight and kept it fresh for Saturday.

They really were. Their goal kicks were fascinating too. Put me in mind of this video I’d watched earlier.

Yeh it’s crazy, but all comes from the Klopp style Gegen-press. If teams just sat off, cut off the channels to midfield and refused to press at goal kicks, what would the opposition do?
