Stumbled across Wayne Thomas’s “Playground to Premiership” podcast yesterday.
Very little Walsall talk, but that’s not the point of the Pod,
Didn’t realise Ade had left Cov City. What an interesting guy. He didn’t at any point say I want to be a manager.
But he came over so so well. The way he spoke to clearly about football had a touch of Nicholl, Graydon, Money. You know when those 3 were interviewed they knew what they wanted and knew their job inside out.
How he went from just being a dogs body at Chelsea, driving youngsters like Dom Salanke around to being their u21s / reserve team gaffer in a few years speaks for the kind of personality he is …. And how highly those in the know at Chelsea rated him.
Ray made it in to management late. Hope Ade does the same I think he does a job if he ever does.
His last few moves haven’t worked out at all. Flopped at Leeds albeit they went up a few months after he joined, had no idea he was at QPR and Blues fans couldn’t wait to see the back of him. Rarely called up for Wales either.
I thought Tyler was incredibly exciting when he came on loan. His goals to games ratio playing in league 1 at 18 was excellent although seems he’s been changed into more of a number 10 in last few years.
I could actually see him coming back here next season if the club are back in league one so perhaps that could revitalise his career as he’s one I thought would do well in the higher leagues.
Yes, a great goal at any standard of football. Loved the little nutmeg that just opened it all up and the composure of the two players was exceptional.
Former “striker” Andrew Barrowman now Chief Exec. at Raith Rovers.
From today’s Gruaniad:
And former Raith boss Ian Murray has revealed his shock at being canned by Rovers just one league game into the season. “I was stunned when I received a short call from [chief suit] Andrew Barrowman on the morning after the Airdrie match telling me my contract was being terminated,” he sighed. “I told him I totally disagreed with this decision. But I’ve been in the game long enough to know that despite my record, nothing should surprise you in football.”
