Hutch is going to end up back in League 2 on loan in January he’s hardly getting a game and there fans don’t rate him at all.

I wasn’t as big of a Hutch fan as a lot of our fans were, but it’s not good seeing him struggle. He still provided a few great moments for us, and was for my money the most talented player we had during his time. He spoke magnificently about the club after he left too and was full of compliments. Always wish anyone well that does that. It’s why I don’t really have a bone to pick with Tom Knowles or Michael Flynn either (the joy some take in his hardships in particular absolutely bemuses me, considering how complementary he has been about the club and fans during his time and after).

I don’t really give a toss about Bristol Rovers, but I hope he turns it around for the man himself.

Some good points here, El N. I wish all our ex-players and managers the best, apart the few who have dropped us in it or dissed us when they left - I find it very difficult to wish good things on Fatboy Cook, for instance. But, Hutch seems a decent guy, I don’t think he is League 1 standard yet and he would have benefited from another season with us in League 2. He reminds me of Romaine Sawyers: when he’s good, he’s brilliant, but when he’s bad, he contributes very little. I still think that Erhan Oztumer was the most skilful Walsall player I’ve seen at the Bescot since Jeff Peron.

Yeah he’s definitely up there. I think I would just about go for Sawyers though, who had a better career in the Championship than Oztumer. Peron was outstanding, and Merson deserved a shout too, despite whatever else came with the package.

I’m trying to think of a more outside the box name as a contender but I’m struggling. Darren Wrack doesn’t always get the credit he deserves in that department.

Ledesma possibly? Ishmel was a flair player too, just a shame he couldn’t apply himself properly.

Loved the way Ledesma stroked the ball

Yeah great shouts, although you have to discount that Ismail couldn’t run after 15 minutes :joy:

Demontagnac, absolute liability but loved a trick

Some good points there EN which largely I agree with.

I’m always interested to see how our ex-players get on. Those that make the decision to leave to further their career I feel a bit cold about I’ll admit - particularly when Flash left us to join Barrow. To be fair to Josh, this season he’s been great for us, and he’s pulled me back onside after being a bit depressed with his performances last season.

I hope Hutch pulls it round too, as he tried to help the club by signing that new contract when he could have just left on a free - but he might have to do it in league two.

Hutch blew hot and cold for me when he was here, and he was a bit selfish at times - his stats were great though which is why he got his move. I’m not sure if he’d be regularly starting or playing 90 minutes in this Walsall team.

Hope Completely Hutched isn’t reading this.

On a brighter note Kinsella back in favour at Cheltenham played full 90 mins last two league games Also Liam Bennett at Cambridge played last 2 also .So things do turn around for players .ups and downs part and parcel of being a pro footballer.sometime face has to fit with managers as well as fans

There’s rumours that the reason he wasn’t playing was because of a contract dispute.

I got the feeling at the time it was a bit of a Tom Knowles situation with Flash, as in we wanted to keep him, but on significantly reduced terms and he moved on. I think it was a good move for all parties.

He’s still got a (very) long way to go before I agree he’s been great for us or has pulled me back on side. It’s been typical Josh Gordon so far, lots of effort, lack of finishing and a pretty serious injury thrown in.

Kinsella back in his original position of Right Back. Was it Whitney who converted him to Midfield?

I was never in favour of him playing right back for us because he was too short and would be targeted at set plays, but I can see that being a defender, with all the game in front of him would make him a more effective player. With us, he was forever passing back, which is harder to do as a defender.

There was an R Sawyers on the bench for St Kitts and Nevis today.
