Forward Options

Will be interesting to see, I think we’ll see Matt and Wheatley as starters, then Harrison and Amantchi as finishers.

Lowe struggled without Matt at times, for example, the first 45 at Notts County away where he partnered Adomah. It will be interesting if Wheatley improves with a different type of striker alongside him.

Although he has the height, I’m not sure that Amanchi is a target man, I think he’s quick and wants to get behind which is why I think he’ll play alongside Matt or Harrison. Think his energy and pace will be an asset late on in games against tired defences.

One of Sadler’s (few) bad decisions in my opinion.

Gordon will be in there somewhere. Sadler really seems to rate him, probably down to his work rate which nobody can complain about. But we need the other forward alongside Matt to be a goalscorer. Not sure who I’d go for personally.

Good ones, I imagine

It’s an interesting conundrum.

I’d personally have Matt and Harro up top with Alb, Levi and DJ on the bench.

Gordon and Wheatley miss out. That won’t happen of course, as I’m sure Gordon will weasel his way in there despite being the worst player in the front line. I’m sure there will be some agreement with Man U over Wheato too.

A very interesting selection tomorrow!

I make it 12 players we’ll have to choose from for the 6 outfield bench positions.

So regardless of who gets picked, there will six first team players, who will all be fit and if they were to be starting, there would be little argument as to why they are.

And that’s with a further four first teamers out injured.

Don’t recall us ever having this much depth to a squad.

Can you imagine having a discussion like this anytime in our recent history?

I expect that Jamma will only play part of the game, but not sure whether as a starter or a sub, depending on his fitness. Wheatley will be on the bench in my view with Josh and one of the two big lads, with the other starting.
Albert will be on the bench, but more likely as wing back cover.
DJ will at home watching the racing.

That’s my take.

I also think Comley will miss out on the squad as Chang will replace him, as i don’t think that stoke lad will make the squad any time soon

Wheatley had done absolutely nothing to deserve a starting spot.
Likewise Gordon but the boss loves him.
Could actually see jamma and Gordon starting.
Would prefer jamma and Harrison.

Risky but worth the gamble

Yes jamma and Harrison starting would be my preference too. With wheatley, levi and DJ on the bench.

Jamma and Harrison would be mine

DJ Wheatley and Levi on the bench.

I really would not bother with flash - good bloke, works hard and can press. But can’t score.

I’m not so sure. Reyes Cleary didn’t play much and got sent back so I don’t think Sadler will sacrifice the results and team of Wheatley proves not to be good enough.

I’d like to see Wheatley at least get one match playing alongside Jamma. We might get a better idea of his ability then. However for an away game at Colchester, if fit I would go with Jamma with Harrison

And if goals are needed I would be looking at bringing DJ and Levi on again. It’s great to have choices on the bench but for the six outfield slots Uncle A is my first name as he can play anywhere.

Think everyone is feeling a lot happier now and 3 points on Saturday will shut up all the doubters.

Agreed. But we shouldn’t be playing him if he isn’t ready and won’t do the job for us. To be fair, it did take Lowe a few games to get going but then he was off and running. Let’s hope Wheatley can do the same.

Yes this supposed reputation of bringing kids on in their game will only happen if like Lowe they do the business.

I agree. Dont think Man Utd could blame us if MS gave him ample chance to prove himself and he proves to be less effective than the other options we have at the club. To be honest I am always more comfortable when we loan players from Premier League sides as there is less chance of them being recalled to play in the first team. Could never imagine the Man Utd fans clamouring for a lad to be brought back from L2 as he’d been banging in the goals.

For me this is a case of horses for courses. I’m sure the analytics will identify what weaknesses the opponent’s defence has and we’ll use the best lads for the job. Would guess Jamma would start most games to be subbed off in the 2nd half. Any one of the others could take the 2nd starting spot, except maybe DJ who I now see as better used as a super-sub.

Wheatley does deserve some chances, but it’s up to him on weather he takes them or not, and build up his arguement that he should be in the squad. I see him as the weakest of the strikers at the moment, but know he’s still developing and adjusting so that could change rapidly.
