How we could do with a Hutchinson about now
Pie chart! Nice line that.
If Josh Gordon is an automatic pick for MS and he’s only been out of the team due to injury then that’s deeply worrying!
Well someone had to say it eventually
The most under appreciated player we’ve had and now we don’t have an outstanding centre forward we’re seeing the actual quality of the midfield.
As a comparison……
So far this season :-
McEntee
Jellis
Earing
Stirk
Lakin
Have played a combined 10,440 minutes in all comps.
They have a COMBINED total of :-
11 goals and 6 assists
At this exact stage last season Hutchinson had played 3040 minutes ALONE and had :-
12 goals and 7 assists
Overall it wasn’t the balance of the side that was so much better pre January, it was the quality of the wide play and the Centre Forwards. Without Lowe and with both wide players jaded it’s exposing the quality of the attacking midfield play.
You are deffo related to Isaac, as soon as his name is mentioned you appear like the genie from a lamp
Agree. Our style is to press, nick the ball and go for goal swiftly. Give us the ball and ask us to create is a different game altogether and one we dont appear very good at.
So basically this coach with all the badges has built not 1. one man team but 2.
The stats of one player does not make a successful team so i dont understand your point.
There are 11 players on the pitch working together to defend as a unit and create as a unit.
Bravo for Hutchinson with his stats though. Still didnt get the team promoted did he
I’ve made plenty of contributions recently that are nothing of the sort, thanks
Absolutely correct. And the overall additions have made for a much better side than last years.
However recent form has also highlighted some shortcomings, one of which is quality in midfield.
I am far from a football master tactician but I would say Sadler sets the team up so that the majority of chances are created by the wing backs. Unfortunately in our case only really Barrett can deliver a decent ball. The midfield is used more to press the opposition and force mistakes.
Exactly that. Same as last season but then there was a lack of quality in the wide area (right side) and a lack of quality up front.
Now Lowe has left and wide players look jaded it’s just exposing the midfield a little.
It’ll work itself out. It’s just form.
The classic “pyramid” 2-3-5 was always my goto formation
Really enjoy most of your stat based insight. Do you think that draw was abject enough to cause a reset in mindset for the players and Sadler to kick them into gear, or at the least try a new way of winning?
No… to be honest I think Sadler will be very stubborn and he’ll trust what’s worked before.
Do better or do different……I think his plan will always be to do better…
Could it cost him though his stubbornness?. To do the same better?. I know it’s worked before, but having Lowey and wing backs that we’re flying earlier in the season, not flying now and jaded and no Lowey now, I’m not sure we can do the same better. Wouldn’t he be better creating a Plan B that would fit the players that we’ve now got?. Not saying abandon Plan A, but we need a viable Plan B now. Just my opinion of course fella
Yeah I think there’s always a case for having different ways of playing for different occasions and opponents….i just think in the main that will be small tweaks rather than a redirection.
I said weeks ago that over a season sides will have periods of form and periods of not being at the races….often 2/3 of each period….sone teams start well, fade away and finish strong, some start slow and build momentum, some are up and down all season….its important to try and trust what you’re doing as a coach / manager and sometimes just plugging away is the best course….
We shall see. I’ve no doubt we’ll be promoted and it was never ever going to be by 12/13 points…not in this division.
Me too. I was too cold.
Hopefully it works out for the club. Fingers crossed . I think if Mat perseveres with the 352 he might have to be brave enough to take 1 or 2 out the team to rest them ie barrett, stirky and possibly JJ. Giving them a spell on the bench while utilising the new lads might help us end the season with a bit more energy. We’ll see on Saturday i guess
Rest and rotation is vital to retain the quality.
Players can play 46 league games but within that you’ll have to accept some dip in form for periods. It’s a trade off depending on how important they are.
