Grimsby Town (A) - League Two - Sat 19th Oct, 3.00pm

That’s very true about how the team celebrate the goals . Indicative of a great team spirit .

Does anyone have a longer version of our 4th goal? Most highlights, including the Saddlers+ extended ones, only show it from the pass out wide to Barrett, but the build up started well before and included a great bit of skill from Uncle Albert out on the other wing.

BTW I was thinking that you have to spare a thought for the Grimsby players. There you are already 3-0 down and still being mauled, then you look up and see Adomah standing on the touchline ready to come. Can your day get any worse? Well yeah because we then send on DJ and Hall who are guaranteed starters in most other teams in L2.

Said this to my mate on Saturday, we’re at the point now where we’ve literally got 24 first team players all trying to get into not only the first eleven, but the matchday squad too.

All seven subs on Saturday could have started and we wouldn’t have weakened the team, McEntee and Cleary travelled with the squad but missed out.

Weir and Maher haven’t featured since they both started against Leicester.

Then in the new year we’ve got Josh Gordon and Priestley Farquharson to come back.

So we’ll be at a point in the new year, where if we have a fully fit side, up to six players will be missing out on a matchday squad solely down to the amount of quality we have in the squad.

Agree with that.

We will need them all over the course of the season. Unless we get several injuries in one position at the same time, like we have at center back but got through it, we should be fine to cope with it.

3 players I wouldn’t like to lose for too long though.

Barrett for obvious reasons, he is just a level above.

Taylor Allen, because he plays a different role to all the other center backs and offers great balance on the left side.

Lowe, we have other good strikers like DJ for example but the lad is so good all round, great movement, very intelligent player, he is a threat in behind defences, scores goals and has good workrate.

Automatic promotion is achievable for us this season, I genuinely believe that.

Cheers. As the commentator said - Wow! Apart from the assist and goal themselves, the whole move was quality. 36-year old Albert didn’t give up on a ball that looked like it was going out, then took on 2 of their players and made it look easy. And that pass from Barrett to Hall - a thing of beauty.

In fact all 4 goals were of the highest quality and would be picked out for deeper examination if they’d been on MotD rather than the EFL goals show. That’s another thing that has improved this season, not just more goals but better ones.

Adomah was brought in as competition for the unproven Barrett at RWB but Connor has been doing so well that it’s hard for Sadler to take him off and give Albert minutes there - yet he is too good to leave on the bench so, as he has other strings to his bow, he’s being used as the 3rd choice striker. However, that means it’s pointless having 2 other strikers on the bench, especially when we have exceptional cover for all positions across the pitch and it’s better to have a balance of subs to cater for any situation. That leaves DJ, Cleary, and a returning Flash vying for the 4th striker spot - yet each of them would be in the starting XI for most of our competitors.

Ditto the situation we are about to get into with our CBs - DD, McEntee, the Priest and Weir when you only need 1, possibly 2, of them on the bench.

Only a few games ago we were recalling Dylan Thomas and George Barrett (as a second sub keeper) just to fill the bench!

Happy to report on another exultant debrief yesterday, we were all literally cock-a-hoop at another fine win and performance.

There is no weakness in this team currently, we are strong in all areas and we have such depth that it bodes well for the relentless slog through late Autumn and Winter.

My Leamore Windows Match Hero was Connor Barrett and my S&S Steelstock Match Rating was (another ) 9. Keep up the good work boys!

Thank you for posting that.

What type of reception did Jackson Smith get from the Walsall fans? Good to see that all 4 goals went in at the “ Walsall” end!! As for Will Smith: I would have punched Chris Rock myself if he’d made fun of my bald wife! But my wife has long hair all the way down her back….none on her head, just all the way down her back!!

Boo’d when he came out for the second half, boo’d every time he touched the ball and the occasional ‘dingle ****’ aswell

Sad, really, but it happens in football. I don’t think either him or Evans were that bad for us. They weren’t brilliant either, just pretty much bog standard for the last five seasons before this one.
