Let’s face it he isn’t going to change much is he.
Williams in for Osh and Harrison for Adomah are the only things he’ll do.
Meanwhile Jamma and Barrett continue to run on fumes.
Expecting Swindon part 2 but hoping we can somehow grind out a win.
To be fair, that’s all I’d probably do too. We just need to be much more willing to change it up from the bench and keep it fresh towards the end of the game.
I understand the nerves on here and looking at the fixtures remaining, every game is tough and has something riding on it.
However, our home form is good and points in the bag are vital at this stage of the season, because the pitches are awful.
If we can get our creative players fit and available on better playing surfaces in late March/ early April, we can accumulate points.
People talk about resting Barrett and Matt, but the Grimsby left winger Vernam is decent and Matt is playing against a former club. Grimsby are also unbeaten in seven too.
Today will be a battle but I agree that Williams should return, for his long throws and heading ability.
I fancy Jellis and Lakin to be the key men today. Lakin had some big chances against Carlisle and we need to get some goals from midfield.
We are a young, inexperienced team and need the backing of the supporters. Maybe, O’Kelly can give a few pointers in terms of a clever set piece to grab us a vital 3 points.
I pray for a 2-1 win in a nervy encounter: a scrappy equaliser from a set piece after falling behind early and then a towering header from captain and leader Jamma just after the restart.
Keeping everything crossed for a morale boosting victory today: UTS!
It all depends on the condition of Williams’ knee. If it’s ok he’ll start and Osh will be back on the bench as the defensive/midfield cover, if not it’ll be the same three at the back. Obviously now that he’s recovered Harrison will star alongside Matt.
It’s just a matter of converting our chances and finishing games off. Wins rather than draws.
Haven’t commented much as there’s too much hyperbolic misery and Sadler abuse on various threads.
But our recent form is one loss in the last six, with two wins and three draws. which is where the problem lies too many draws, fine away need to win at home.
Grimsby are in good form but if they attack us and we find our way of playing again we should do this, 2-1 to us.
Edit: just realised it was actually 2 wins and 3 draws not 1 and 4, changed accordingly.
If we win today and there is a loser in the other early game surely that would put them out of contention to catch us, as they would be 13 or 14 points adrift. Draw and its 12 and 13 adrift so both would have huge ground to make up. Massive opportunity today to hit the home straight and make the upcoming three games against the chasers almost free-hits for us and must-wins for them. Tricky games for Vale and Donny also.
For those who normally park on the train station be aware they have 6 or 7 spaces taped off today so if you usually get there and just squeeze on you’ll need to be a little earlier to get a space.
Williams for McEntee and Harrison for Matt
Adomah and Harrison ![]()
Surely we can’t play hoofball with that front two. Doesn’t mean we won’t though ![]()
Thank god we signed that Bromley reserve.
What a shambles.
We don’t anyway
Matt needs,a rest but Adomah is not a striker like McEntee not a midfielder. DJ is a striker and our best goalscorer
We’ve got 3 strikers on the bench, a kid from Man Utd not in the squad and still playing Adomah up front. I just can’t work it out in my mind.
On top of that we don’t have any cover for Barrett on the bench given Adomah is starting and won’t last 90 mins.
I’m sure it is a master stroke and 3 points are incoming ![]()
Put Allen up front he started his career as a striker and he sure can hit a ball
Haven’t we got a striker on the bench ![]()
What does he see in Adomah up front? Even without the fact that he sees Adomah up-front as a better option that DJ or either of the two strikers he signed in January.
I posted at the time that at least signing 3 strikers in January meant we would never see him play there again, and we’ve actually seen him play there MORE.
I just can’t get my head round it…apart from hoping Unc now bags a goal or two by way of some kind of reverse jinx. Will we ever see him play as the wide man he has been for 20 years? I guess all those 20 years worth of managers must have missed something that Sadler knew all along.
One thing strikes me also. Normally on here, and as a fanbase generally, we can barely agree on the colour of shyte…has there ever been an issue that has unified opinion more than Sadler’s use of DJ? Especially in recent weeks… If so I can’t remember one.
Albert must have an agreement that he can only play upfront
Barrett must have a contract clause making him undroppable
DJ must have an appearance bonus if he plays more than 10 mins……MS is keen to avoid.
Yesterday, I predicted a draw (at best), but walking to the ground I had a premonition of a 3-1 win…then I saw the team sheet!
Midfield and the back looks OK, not least with Harry back, but up front???
Shame! I love Uncle Albert, but Mat does him no favours playing him up top.
Could be worse, could be Adomah and Flash - and probably would be if he was fit!
Debatable sometimes.
