Harrogate Town (H) Friday 18th April, 3pm

Totally depressing performance again.
At least we got to see Chang and now know why Sadler doesnt play him.
Calm, looks to get the ball down and pass to one of his own team mates.
Thats got no place at all in Sadlers hoof ball

He loves it when we lose. It means he can tell everyone hes a top fan because he was right… not some sad act who plows negative drivel on a league 2 fan forum.

The total situation smells

Monday I’d go
Simkin
Adomah mcentee Williams weir asimwe
Hall Chang lakin
Levi dj

Nothing to lose
Players who’s confidence may not be totally shot or a point to prove

Yet again a golden opportunity presented to us and not taken.
The strange thing is I’m not angry about what I’ve just witnessed because there’s absolutely no point, it’s completely out of my control.
Mat Sadler will not change how we play as he believes it is the right way.
Trivela won’t act because we are going to finish higher than we did last season (incremental progress).

Considering O’Kelly got so much of the credit for our good run why is Sadler now solely responsible for our bad run ?

Decent side to be fair, as unlikely as a good performance though

Because that wouldn’t suit the narrative

Decent performance for first and last 15 mins, the other 60 was garbage. I don’t think booing Sadler was called for to be honest. Other will disagree but he did fantastic for nearly two thirds of the season and shocking for a third of it. Aside from this though the support was fantastic.

Regarding Monday, Levi and Chang absolutely have to start, not up for debate. Jellis and Stirk absolutely shouldn’t play, I rate both but both are horribly out of form and look shot. I’d also pick Asinwe ahead of Barrett. Barrett wasn’t bad at all today but I think Nathan is probably our best crosser of a ball so I’d pick him with levi and Matt . Sadly I fully expect Jellis and Stirk to play though. Very much still in our hands but unless we improve massively then we are missing out in the play offs, heartbreaking.

Because he is Head Coach and responsible.

It doesn’t matter now. We may as well select 11 random fans with Dancing Kev in the dug out.

Since we beat Morecambe away (where we also scored 2), we have scored 2 goals in 5 of the subsequent games and haven’t won any of them.
I don’t see Matt as the problem, as many seem to do. He’s involved in so many of our goals.
The other end of the pitch is where it’s all gone tits up, from a team perspective (rather than blaming individuals).
I was hoping (as it appears many others were) that the recall of Harry Williams would make a difference, but in fact, we were probably at least as bad, if not worse defensively today, as we have been for weeks, especially given the opposition, who hadn’t scored in their previous six away games.

I’ve got more chance of dating Kylie Minogue than that happening mate :rofl:

First of all let me qualify my response. I dont get to see us very often due to being abroad a lot. This is the first game i have seen since MK Dons 4-2 win after Lowe had gone back.

I have watched Walsall for 59 years and seen some good teams and many not good teams. Today was abysmal.

We started ok, Conner Barretts shot was going wide, i was right behind it, until their defender turned it in. I thought we would press on and win 3 or 4 nil. Harrogate were rubbish.

I couldnt believe how we reacted. The comedy defending for their equaliser was appalling. How many chances did we have to get it away? Good finish eventually.

Constantly hoofing up front to Matt was obviously not working. Our front line never threatened at all. Unlike Harrogate’s front line, small nippy players who turned our defence constantly .

We only started to threaten when we actually brought a midfielder on in Chang, but instead of taking Jellis off he should have taken Stirk off, he was dreadful. Jellis is a footballer and he needs a footballer around him, him and Chang could work well together.

Sadler has totally cocked this up. Ditch the 352, go for a straight back four, put Albert on the wing in his best position , and we need mobility up front, and i really dont want to say this, if Wheatley isnt fancied, we need a striker that will harress the Newport back line. We need energy upfront,…i really cant believe I’m saying this…is it time for Josh Gordon?

He’s not the issue in a defensive sense but he couldn’t trap a bag of cement today and he is incapable recently of holding up the ball without giving away a foul which in turn means constant pressure on the defence. In a team where we rely on hoofing it to the front two we need people up there that can hold it up. Matt is a preferable option to Harrison despite being overplayed, how Harrison is a starter I’ll never know.

Because (point 1) he didn’t, and because (point 2) he 100% is.

Chang,Levi, Hall,Asimwe have to start Monay as they all have the confidence on the ball and forward thinking players.Also.feel they havent been mentally scared fromour shocking run and lack of confidence.

He won’t start Hall or Chang based on Birmingham’s stance on minutes/injuries.

I’d give that a go but put in Lakin for Stirk.
