Harrogate Town (H) Friday 18th April, 3pm

I agree about that bloke before the game. We’ve prided ourselves for decades on not needing any musical accompaniment. We rightly take the piss when we go away of anyone with a drum.

And yet we’ve got bleedin Ray Von (Shabba!) doing a turn before home games. What an absolute whopper he is. Jesus.

I pretty tired of being told how to support the team by the club. The SLO, the CEO, the chairman, the manager, the captain and Ray. Get behind the lads, be patient, pull together, don’t be ridiculous and the rest of their greatest hits. We’re punters. If we pay, we’ve literally bought the right to support them as we want. Stoney silence, singing, booing, clapping, cheering or jeering. We don’t need a bleeding team talk before a game. And then, we don’t need our performance analysed post match. I honestly don’t care if Mat feels that I was “first class” or became impatient or frustrated. It’s completely immaterial what he/they think of my performance. FWIW I thought I was ace today. I was “us” - as I am every week.

I tell you who does need a team talk. The bloody team. Wonder if Ray Von goes in the dressing room with his mic. “Jamie - makes the world of difference when you pass it to a team-mate. Do that”. I wonder if Ben Sadler and Ben Boycott write to the team to tell them how to play. I wonder if the SLO paints cliche all over the walls of the dressing room.

Probably not. Because who are they to tell players how to play? Equally, who the bleedin hell do they think they are to tell us how to support?

They are doing jobs. Some of them really badly. To us it’s a way of life spanning generations and many decades. I’ve been “getting behind the lads” and paying for the absolute privilege for longer than most of these have been on this earth. We know what we’re doing and how to do it. We don’t need coaching. Any coaching on offer needs to be directed elsewhere.

The club have worked wonders with the matchday experience. They should concentrate on that and resuscitating the football team. We’ll do what we do. And we’re very good at it ta very much.

Seems a decent bloke. I wonder if he fancies a move South?!!

Is this what you meant by

I completely agree. But I think generally we are really well appreciated by the players.

I think they care a hell of a lot about us as a fan base.

Agree, some sconner with a mike and clip-board isn’t going to educate me on how to support a team I’ve followed for thirty odd years. Announcing how many points clear we were after every game in January was asking for trouble and has bothered me ever since.

Expected this result. Got this result. Expecting better on Monday.

You make excellent point midfielder Jellis .Hall Chang are a pretty decent midfield the one thing they need is like you say someone with energy and mobility up front making the runs creating space for the midfield to be effective .I’m not having a go at Jamma he’s been amazing in what he’s been asked to do at his age .but it stopped working 20 games ago when Lowe was recalled he gave us that energy and mobility and the plus was his goals as well and was also a foil and took the whole burden off Jamma ,as long as Sadler perceives with him starting up top then we will continue with hoof ball up to him .jamma needs to be used as an impact sub only and we need a drastic change of tactics . Levi Is more mobile and has energy and we would be better suited starting with him I don’t think Josh Gordon is the answer .we definitely have problems defensively and have had all season I’ve never thought we ever had a sound defensive unit and now Sadler is making that many changes it’s evident he has no idea who to play in defence I feel players are probably losing confidence in him as it seems he’s just trying to perm any three from 6 now and see what happens no logic to it .the only thing left for Sadler for the last 3 games I’d say is pick your best players in there best positions .you might have to upset a few players but it’s the only thing that’s going to save his skin and ours .

Indeed

I don’t know what people expect for a tenner.
But I do know it ain’t been a bloo** GOOD FRIDAY .

It was very North Korea wasn’t it?

Completely obvious he has been told to say that about still being in the autos… to support the team…

Why on earth did they feel the need to say that?

Pathetic it was.

Haha sconner.

What a premium insult that is. A timeless classic.

Agree by the way. Absolute cringe fest wish he’d just shut the f up. Maybe he should stick to second rate wrestling.

It goes back into the back slapping thing. By all means enjoy being 12 points clear but enjoy it by being disciplined. Dancing on the pitch and all that jazz in January. Vomit inducing. This club will never learn a lesson.

Because he never did.

Hardly heard his name mentioned to be honest.

I don’t think anyone really knew what he even does.

I find the pitch side bloke embarrassing tbh.
Don’t mind a few words of encouragement. But starting off songs and not judging the crowd’s nerves and intelligence of what is required and when is to much.
Our support has been amazing all season. And if it is a bit flat with a big crowd in that is like any other ground in that we need something to get excited about and not hoof ball

Really wish we utilised Adomah more effectively. Today proved what we and EFL history know.

Mate, there are posters on Facebook that literally hang around waiting for the slightest negative post about Walsall and jump in like vultures. They can’t wait. I know a few of them as well. They love to put the boot in fellow fans. There are all kinds.

If they genuinely said that, then that is very sad and they aren’t feeling like myself and many others, yourself included, I’d imagine. It obviously doesn’t mean as much to them, and in a way I wish I were the same.

I have no idea if I am balanced or not. I just love Walsall FC and I am heartbroken.

Your right, and also id say most of us are balanced, even Stretch is spot on these days, like an oracle or something.

I would have got rid of Sadler after Carlisle in fairness.. I genuinely believe it we don’t go up this year we are due to monumental collapse. I also think if we go up we will probably do a Cheltenham or Luton.. and drop back two leagues.

As long as I have been a fan I’ve been surrounded by others who seem to enjoy downfall but they are very few.. I actually hate sharing the stadium with them, back in 05 I moved my season ticket to not listen to the same shit biased opinions.. But that’s my lack of emotional intelligence I guess :joy:

I’m also a hypocrite, because I was fuming at Carlisle away (and today)… So bloody angry at the performance, especially simple things done poorly, I looked around and people were giving me evils and clapping the players. I shut my mouth and tried my best to encourage them.

Fed up of raising my expectations, thinking we’re up.. finally got a good manager and then swallowing peoples 'i told you so’s.

I’d rather watch Truro City, at least I don’t care about them. Become a football hipster.

Anyway off to Newport!

Me and my boys are going to Newport also. I can’t say as I am looking forward to it. Getting soaked watching promotion slip away, but we’ll do our bit and hope for the best.
