Home and away

Just noticed: between now and the end of the year, we have 14 home fixtures (all competitions) and only 6 away games.
Good thing or bad thing? It’s certainly an opportunity to lay a foundation of points and possibly make progress in some competitions.

I preferred Neighbours

I’d like to take Leah Patterson home and play away with Shannon Reed and go for a score draw with them both

When’s Harold coming back.

Ultimately I’m not sure it makes much difference, but it could be argued that we have better form at home so having more home games in the first half of the season would give us more confidence for the second half of the season and increase the likelihood of us getting a few results going (more) our way away from home. On the flip side it also means if our confidence drops during the second half of the season it will be more difficult to pick it back up again - especially when you consider that it’s becoming a tradition for us to lose our best striker in January

He is back

Why do I get the impression that some people are not taking my question seriously?.

Definitely a good thing, our home form over the last 2 years has been very good.

Think you may have miscounted - I make it 13 home and 7 away. 3 of those home games are in the various cups, so it’s only 10-7 as far as league games are concerned. We’ve only played 2 games at home in the league so far (3 cup) against 3 (+1) away, and our first 2 games of 2025 are away which will even things up there (12-12 as we start the reverse fixtures) - it’s the 5 to 1 split of cup games (so far - fingers crossed there are more in all of them) that are probably making it feel slanted.

To answer your question, it was our away form last season that let us down most so we do have to improve there whilst really making it Fortress Bescot when we’re at home if we want to be challenging for promotion. 4 out of 4 victories at home, 2 out of 4 away (in all competitions) - if we maintained that stat all season in the league then we would be right up there.

BTW Comparing our cup games last season to this (so far) - the EFL trophy games (in the current format) mean that 1st round is always 2H 1A - and we didn’t progress any further; 1A in the Carabao; 3A in the FA Cup (although we did have 1H due to the replay against Alfreton) = 2(+1)H 5A. So 5H 1A so far this season is just swings and roundabouts evening things up a bit.

If Sadler can nail away form them we’ve got it licked, however to do so he needs to be as positive as he sets the team up to be at home.
