How do you rate our January transfer window?

They reckon end of march early april. Takes quite a while to get match fit though. We don’t have reserves to help with that. That’s why i mentioned a bit of experience needed in the middle of the park. Hoping the new lads will help fill the void a little

Certainly better business than I’d have expected under Bonser. Under Jeff I’d have expected the 2 loan midfielders in, Jellis sold and Harrison not to join.

Solid 7/10. Back up all over the pitch, Jamma’s apprentice, a promising youngster who may or may not come good, and some experience up front. It was impossible to replace Lowe, but actually we’ve done as well as we could imo with those 3, with a nod to next season too.

So much better than so many previous January windows. A sense of purpos, meaningful signings, and no dross. Hard to fault the club.

They way I see the loans is there are only 5 real contenders week to week.

Simkin
Asiimwe…Back up only
Hall…won`t be in contention until Aprilish
Chang
Lipsuic
Harrison
Wheatley

We will see.

Good business. No excuse now.

Compared with (many) previous January wingdings, this looks like a considered and serious approach that will pay dividends: “now” signings, signings for the future and “let’s have a look”.
Got to be 8/10 in my book.

A world apart from Bonser and Mole and Co. If they had been in charge we wouldn’t have been trusted with Lowe and Wheatley either imho.
Our new CEO should take some praise I think.
It was possible to feel the concerns and fear on UTS last night and in recent days as well. Understandable if you are a Walsall fan that has seen many troubled transfer windows in the past of course.
As others have said we need to trust the current Ownership and Management as up to now they have consistently delivered the end product we have all been praying for. All we need to do is to trust we deliver in the remaining part of the season.
What we can say is that every other Club in this League is extremely jealous of our position and squad strength as of today and recognise that we have one of the best Stadiums and a loyal Fan Base to go with it.
Nathan Lowe was the icing on the cake this season and many of us will remember his huge contribution to our success for years to come.
UTS.

Replacing Nathan Lowe was mission impossible as was any possible chance of his return.
For me this transfer window (aka nightmare month) could easily have ended up disastrous but this is a very different situation with Trivela and if there’s one thing that’s becoming abundantly clear it’s that they are building for the future.
Yes back to back defeats, yes below par performances recently and yes losing jamma has been significant. We’re still top of the league with a decent lead have a good young manager and a togetherness throughout the squad.
Gates are up we’ve kept the team together for the run to the end of the season. There’s every reason to believe that this is our time.

Fantastic window. All the core players remain, talented hungry, fit youthful, confident boys coming into the squad to inject some well needed energy and a proven battler up front. Can see us sending our fringe players to Solihull and Rushall for game time and to keep them sharp. Mat S and the team are miracle workers. Never felt so proud and optimistic. Bring on Saturday, putting a massive load on us winning 3:0

If you asked me at 11PM I’d have said 6/10 but for me the experience of Ellis and his style of play has made me feel a lot better and I feel like some of these loans are extended trials for signings next year.

So I’d now say a 7.5/10 as the only things that could have made it better is more permanent signings or a bit more age in the midfield signings.

Not considering the players we have kept (everyone bar Lowe). I’d rate this a solid 7/10. Harrison and Chang are the two I’m most excited about. Though I have hopes for the the Man U kid too - once he’s bedded in a bit.

If we include the fact that we’ve kept the squad together 9/10. I get that for new contracts players will want to see what league we’re in next year.

Well done to all involved - particularly the backroom staff. I get the feeling a number of potential deals fell through, but just like the players they kept going and came up trumps in the end. UTS

Compare our transfer business with the rest of L2. Are there any teams that have done better and who we should be fearful of?

Remember that for the rest of the season we don’t need to be the best, just “good enough” to get over the line. For my part, I think the additions we’ve made (on top of keeping the main part of the squad that has been the best so far) will have what it takes.

I think this was a 6/10 until we signed Harrison late last night, I also think if he has a good season with us we are in a strong position to get him for free.

I don’t think we could ask for much more tbh, we was never going to directly replace Lowe but we have got someone with a similar back ground (Wheatley) someone who offers a bit of Matt and a bit finesse (Levi) and someone to cover Matt or
Challenge him for the first team role as he comes to the end of a busy season for him in Harrison.

In regards to the young loans, they both have pedigree and are highly thought of and if they do well could potentially sign for us next season as blues will spend big money in the championship. I’d rather that then spend stupid money in January when actually, the only stand out issue we had was Lowe leaving and maybe a little lack of depth.

If, and hopefully we do go up, we haven’t got a big squad full of league 2 players we can go again and add to what what we have with players that want guaranteed league one football.

Overall for me 9/10 - would have needed draper for a 10

All things considered not bad at all.
Lowe was irreplaceable really.
By all accounts we went for Draper and i think we may make an approach again in the summer.
The boys from stoke and Birmingham will add depth to a somewhat tired midfield.
In true moneyball style of replacing star players in the “aggregate” we’ve gone with Levi and Ellis to try and reduce the impact of losing Lowe.
If you take away Wheatley’s pedigree of Manchester United and look at him in isolation then he’s not quite ready for mens football.
Asiimwe…cover…ahui…one for the future.

I see from that Maher has gone to Tamworth. Not seen that anywhere else.

That’s the loan that ended early before Christmas due to injury.

Lipsuic + Chang + Wheatley + Asiimwe are not first team ready. Back up.
Amantchi has never performed in the league. Back up.

Only Ellis Harrison is first team ready…the replacement for Lowe but unlikely to be as good
we are an experienced midfielder light

6/10

9 out of 10 for me, all of our congratulations should go to all involved in the incomings, the club have worked tirelessly to bring in the right players and to think of the calibre of players we’ve bought in from their opening quotes, i think we’ve got some good ones…

…an all action, powerful midfield player. He wants to run, wants to work hard.

“I’m aggressive, I’ll press but I’m also calm and composed on the ball.

“He’s something a little bit different to what we have in the group at the moment and he comes with a wealth of experience which is going to be vital for us in the second half of the season.

“I’m a player who likes to run in behind, I’ve got a few tricks and I’m unpredictable.

“He is very quick, he’s a big lad and he wants to score goals
