How do you rate our January transfer window?

Chang certainly is when match fit

I would give it a 7.5 out of 10. Fairly solid. We’ve added depth. I just wish we’d have made a couple of permanent signings. Then again as long as we get over the line I don’t really care

9 out of 10 for me.

Only the return of Lowe could have made it any better, and that would have been a 10.
We now have the ability to allow Matt the fullest of time to recover from his injury, and to be used more sparingly, which we didn’t have even when he was partnered with Lowe, and no more uncle Albert filling in up front. Increased cover for all other positions. Given the resources available at the club, and the way certain deals were inevitably given the usual January scuppering I honestly don’t see what more could have been done.

7/10 for me. Let’s hope these signings cement our position in the automatic promotion places.

Pretty much agree there. Might also been a 10 with A permanent Draper deal.
Can’t see why some posters are so negative, or what they were expecting otherwise.

Honestly, I am quite glad we didn’t get Draper. I think Harrison will do a better job for us, and we can assess our options in the summer, hopefully as a League 1 club.

I think that is an important factor. If we do go up, the summer will be a quite different exercise than we have had in recent seasons. Given the extreme difficulty of good permanent signings in January, when contracts are still in force, we have done well with loans. And even if only one of the kids comes through as a star, we will have done even better.

8.5 out of ten for me. Draper would’ve been a 9, Lowe coming back making a 10.

Very good recruitment when you look realistically.

The profile of young loan player we are getting into the club is far better than it was not so long ago. They won’t all work out but they are players who have a real chance of making it, and also some chance of signing them permanently.

Our relationship with Stoke and Blues seems good. In my mind I wanted Stoke to go down, but it may serve us better if they stay up.

wouldn’t be so confident - players can take multiple months to regain form and confidence after serious injury. some never so. hope i’m wrong

Maybe I am easily pleased (???), but, as I said on another thread, I think I am the only contributor to the board who would not have minded if there had been no new signings or loans during this transfer window.

We have done so well this season with the players already here, and have only lost Lowe, who is irreplaceable. I am very confident that we could have gained automatic promotion from the position we were when Lowe left with just the players who remained. Whether that was correct, we will never know, but the team was playing so well for so long that I was more worried about upsetting the team with additions than suffering from shortage of numbers.

It may seem counter-intuitive, but a good team is not necessarily improved by adding a few better players, because the way that players work together to create chances and prevent the opposition from scoring is more dependent on teamwork, morale, and understanding than individual brilliance.

We also have a number of fringe players who have looked very good when given the opportunity, but have found themselves unable even to get on the bench most weeks.

Having said that I am looking forward to seeing each of the new players and hope that they are really successful. It is certainly great to see the support that Trivela have given to Sadler in allowing him to bring in all these players.

I thought they were all too busy in Denmark and the ROI?

Pretty good for me. There should be enough there, not least with our dynamic midfield to see us over the line.

A word about Uncle Albert: Quite a few see him as a make weight / backfill. I don’t. I think that his experience, fitness and overall quality makes him a key ingredient to our success. I want to see him on the field, week in, week out.

I did say “when match fit”

It’s our most successful in many a year. Losing Lowe was huge, but as we couldn’t replace with quality (like for like) we’ve gone for quantity. Not all of the signings will be a hit, as is always the case, but we now have strength in depth which we’ve all been calling for.

7/10 for me.

Signing Harrison is the gamechanger.

Bumps things up to a solid 7/10.

7/10 was hoping for a bit more experience in midfield but we held on to what we’ve got which was vital.

7/10 would’ve been a 5 without Harrison the others look like extended trials apart from the lad from Bromley.

Depth was very much needed though, i am fully expecting a few to drop with injuries with the way we play in the next few months.

Most will be bit part players i expect.

Allows McEntee to go back to being a centre back as well.
