Ideas to improve the atmosphere at home

Thats what I was getting at with the Taranto pictures. They had a megaphone too.

Immagine if we could get 1000 plus fans singing in our stand, when everyones together its super loud. Our own poundland fratton end!

I remember some years ago we were hosting Blackpool.
There had been a fire at the Pleasure Beach. Our lot started to sing "Where’s your fun house gone " The visitors didn’t like it but I found it quite funny.

It didn’t go down well when they organised one to clash with an anti-Bonser protest.

Floors to go upper can be really loud when we want to be.
It’s not the roof it’s the fans
I get a lower roof helps but the bescot can be a dam loud place

Bescot always been shocking for atmosphere even when it was terrace it was terrible. People saying “win games” , we was fighting for automatic promotion in league1 under smith and it was still crap so don’t give me that 1. The only option to improve would be a drum imo but people would moan and they would rather sit in silence no doubt.

That Albion game was probably the loudest it’s been tbf. The rest of that season was no different to now for atmosphere .

It really is a tough one to put your finger on isn’t it.
One obviously is the team playing well and scoring plenty of goals.
Secondly a large away following at the other end giving it some makes a difference, but not always.
There were a few lads and lassies trying to get the upper singing and trying to get an atmosphere up there going a season or two ago which kick started the lower or vice versa, pity that couldn’t start again as it definitely made a difference.
There was also an elderly guy ( no offence, hes probably younger than me anyways ) who used to walk up and down the lower singing" red army " and got everyone singing, so yes someone prompting at the front would definitely get everyone at it imo.
Drum… think I’d want to kill :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Probably going to be an unpopular view but I go to a game to watch football, atmosphere etc is a side issue so it doesn’t really bother me, although undoubtedly the atmosphere improves with sustained performance/victories.

What I would add is I reckon footballing authorities have done as much as they can to kill off atmospheres at football, probably because a small minority create a bad name for football fans. Take the rugby or cricket, buy a beer, walk into the stand to sit and drink it while watching the spectacle in front of you then do a conga round the stadium.

Go to a football match and if I can see the pitch 15 mins before the start of the game with a beer in hand I’m expected to go off the rails and turn into some rampaging lunatic, so down go the blinds to keep me in the dark and subdued like a mushroom. God knows what would happen if I attempted to start a conga :see_no_evil::joy:

I might be talking nonsense but just an opinion.

No, I don’t think your view would be unpopular amongst the majority of fans in today’s circumstances. Drums? Trumpets? Song sheets? God save us, no thanks. If the football is gripping, goals fly in, players give their all then crowd enthusiasm will rise in proportion. But, this is League Division 4 remember and the last several seasons have seemed like an extended wake for Walsall FC…

Yep our home and away support are day and night. I know it’s the case for most but we are literally opposite ends of the spectrum.

On any football Facebook group walsall often pops up as quietest home fans. Wish we could sort it out.

Getting more fans in would help. What initiatives are we doing to attract the substantial Asian population of Walsall?

The rhythm would get :muscle: stronga!

We all go to the football to watch the football but a good atmosphere makes it more enjoyable. Putting the away fans in the family stand and giving us behind that goal would help if we could get a singing area. It works great at Crewe tbf to them. Their ultras behind that goal was brilliant the other week. Mansfield have the loudest home fans in this league from what I’ve witnessed and they use a drum.

Crap view from the away end. If we ever in increase our average attendances beyond 7k we could look at it.

I think so much of it is about marketing of the club, getting a package of flexi-tickets or improved travel from areas and maybe selling tickets in pubs in areas Walsall fans live.

Immagine blocks of fans arriving from a certain pub in club arranged transport. Wouldn’t need to be every week but would rebuild or grow the fan base.

It’s a myth that we can’t creat a good atmosphere at home. We have had plenty of oppo managers comment on just how good the atmosphere is at Bescot .From Brian Little and Trevor Francis the early years to more latterly Paul Lambert , Colin Calderwell and Steve Evans (just last season.). To improve it further ticket sales for our home end should be restricted to under 60s only. Anyone under 30 should only be allowed to sit behind the goal. Bescot on its day is as good as most places in the lower divisions.
