International ifollow

I have been in touch with EFL about international streaming services and, although I am still waiting to hear from them definitively, it is looking like it will be up to then club and with LP saying at the Fan’s Forum that ifollow is dead, it does not look good.

Does anyone have any other information? Perhaps from another club?

My expectation is that it will work as before if you are abroad

That is what they said but it seems it might be up to the individual clubs to decide whether to bother. Pomlett’s words were ominous saying ifollow is dead.

By the way, the link from that site to Walsall FC shows a 404 error.

Who knows.

id be surprised if they didn’t get around to offering the service for international fans as they are losing a revenue stream.

The other option of course is to go to the website of whoever Walsall are playing in a given week and see if they are streaming it.

From a friend

Hi XXXX

Your iFollow Season Pass subscription will not auto-renew due to the change of service provider and you will need to re-subscribe for next season when passes for the 2024/25 season go on sale in July 2024.

The old iFollow app is offline as a new club app is coming out shortly instead. You will have to register a new account and access your new account directly through the clubs website. The club will notify you once the new app is available.

For more information on next season’s streaming offering please read the following or contact your club for further information – https://www.efl.com/how-to-watch/ifollow-and-streaming/

Kind Regards

XXXX

I don’t think that is possible because need a full subscription.

Incidentally, the same site is saying that Sky is broadcasting every game on the opening day, even those at 3pm on Saturday.

Thanks - which club is that?

Yes I think that’s true.

Walsall. Email from iFollow in reply to a question about the subscription auto-renewing.

I took that as meaning there is no “iFollow”… but that doesn’t rule out a new streaming method replacing it.

That’s how I see it.

Thank you. That looks a bit more promising but it is getting a bit close to the season starting.

It seems to me that, if it is OK to show all EFL games live on Day 1, the argument about TV affecting gates is blown out of the water.

I guess their argument would be it’s only happening on the opening day.

We are launching our own platform, in the article about tv picks it confirms.

**International TV Audiences

Fans outside of the UK will be able to continue watching their favourite team in all EFL competitions via Club platforms, where matches are not being broadcast exclusively."

Yes, I read that and I may be being unnecessarily twitchy but the season starts 3 weeks on Saturday and, so far as I know, no one has heard anything about how this will work. The way the message is written makes it sound compulsory for each club to have a platform but I wonder if they can opt out. I do not know how many international subscribers there are but I guess it would be dozens rather than hundreds, so it cannot be more than, say, £20k in gross revenue.

I wrote to the club to ask.
Elizabeth Champion, the ticket manager said:
“Saddlers+ will be replacing iFollow. For international supporters, they will be able to purchase a video pass like they have before on the website, and you will be able to watch via the app.”

Hope that helps

Yes, thank you. That is the best positive sign I have seen.
