Could hang banners down from the roof with the latest no-fo beer concepts.
some folk wouldn’t like those illuminates advertising boards tho….
I’m sure leamore windows will be up for that job. It’s a good idea. I’m emailing Boycott.
The Poundland Polytunnel
Drag the missis down there tell her your taking her to the garden centre
Summer months it could be a really good venue for tennis or indoor cricket or festivals…
I know it’s a little daft but after sleeping on it, why not… Be nice to feel warm on a Tuesday night in December and no stanchions to block the view!
Genuinely think it would draw more fans in.
Im no construction expert, but the cost to re-arrange the support structure of the roof would cost multiple millions, for not much value to the team.
If we were to sink that type of money, id say knock the saddlers center down or build on the jerome retail for that kinda money
Or suspend the stadium above the train station if we’re throwing money around.
I’m not sure it would cost any greater than the cost of Silkborg, maybe some construction firms would fancy it for a chance to be investors.
Let’s make the Poundland Polly tunnel a reality.
The powers that be really made a pigs ear of it when they built the ground back in the 80s/90s didn’t they? What a missed opportunity.
Slightly disappointing given the impressive away audience we didn’t break the 7,000 spectator mark on Saturday. I think the club have already made a number of splendid and generous offers this season so would be reticent to do too much more during the run-in. At best possibly one more ‘tenner tuesday’ equivalent, as mentioned above the Harrogate may be a good one but a tenner for adults should be the absolute ceiling on price.
I can see it taking off .
Used to go to school with her…won’t tell you how she got her name…
. . especially in a high wind!
I think it will be back up to around 6k home fans for Swindon, if we get a reasonable points return from the next two.
As well as keeping an eye on the table that matters the most, this one has been improving steadily too.
The battle for 10th on this one will come down to whether the people of Birkenhead come out to support their team’s bid to stay in the league in greater numbers than the people of Walsall come out to support their team’s bid to win the league.
For context there are four league one clubs with lower crowds than us and two non league with higher. So if we finish tenth in our league it probably means we are ranked 8th in the fourth tier overall (or 74th overall).
Which is all very interesting and I hope that as this magnificent season reaches a climax we see some really big crowds down there. But to move from interesting to important, the early bird campaign is round the corner and so so important . For me, the club should not try to increase prices. They mis stepped this season on all pricing points leading to less season ticket holders than previous season. I’d love to see them acknowledge this with a reduction but a freeze should be the maximum. If we’re to survive a level up we need to get around 2,000 extra Walsall fans there regularly.
I find it quite sad how we have fallen behind so many other clubs and their attendances levels now.
We have been overtaken by clubs, we would of called back in the day smaller clubs than us.
I know the leech can be held responsible for our falling behind as a football club with his contempt for supporters in the end, and causing many to walk away and have still failed to come back.
Trivela are trying to get the gates up, and I hope they succeed as I find it heartbreaking that our team, top of the league are still playing in a over half empty stadium.
Would love our games to be played with a full house every game, you can only imagine the atmosphere that would generate.
Getting fan numbers up is the real challenge for Trivela and the ultimate measure of their ownership.
Not having a go, but just an observation, it seems the ‘floating’ Walsall fan, the type of fan Trivela presumably want to become regulars, is more demanding than the traditional hardcore 3k season ticket fan.
By this I mean they come along to Walsall when we are doing well but are more insistent we win. For evidence I cite the recent booing at the Tuesday for a Tenner game against Gillingham where we ‘only’ drew. I almost remember Romaine Sawyers being chastised when we were atop of league 1 under Smith.
Getting these fans to come more often is very difficult.
I think a lot more could be done with the ethnic groups around Walsall too.
Can’t argue with much Trivela have done.
As I say above the Early Bird pricing points are hugely important.
I also think they need to start seriously looking at the facilities on three sides of the ground. Even if it’s one stanchion at a time.
But number one was putting a competitive team on the pitch and we can’t argue with that!
I was talking to a couple of Wolves fans the other night - sensible folk that have supported them all of their lives, through the good and bad.
They said that they, and others used to go along to Walsall from time to time, but stopped going due to the anti Wolves sentiment at our games. Thought “fook ‘em, if that’s their attitude”. I’d never considered that this might be a reason as to why local fans of other clubs don’t come.
When I was a youngster, we generally got a fair few on the gate when our bigger neighbours weren’t playing, particularly midweek games.
They may of course be in a tiny minority.
I don’t particularly care about Villa, Wolves, WBA, Blues, they are so far ahead of us that it’s a shame supporters of their clubs are put off from coming to our games. But then it’s only chants!
My Brother is coming to Carlisle with me and he is a Villa Fan, saw a lad in a wolves hat yesterday at Morcambe. They usually wish us well as a fan base, in a belittling bantering way.
Shrewsbury, Port Vale are the only true rivals, and even some Port Vale fans seem to be ok.
