Had to, as it was the best on the table. Much like the premier league though it just goes on inflated wages for players. The clubs are just a distribution system…
I can’t subscribe to this “inflated wages”. They’re not inflated at all.
The TV companies want the product, the product is based on the players. The players deserve the money. The players will get paid what they’re worth. They’re worth what folks are willing to pay. It’s simple.
The clubs take their slice of the pie.
It’s just like other entertainment platforms. Your top movie stars get paid top bucks because their movies generate the money.
You have posted a lot of stuff on here which I don’t agree with but to say players wages are not inflated is simply not true. We are not talking about “top movie stars” or even top players.Pretty ordinary Premiership players and many in the Championship are paid well above what even well paid folk get in other more vital industries and services.
It’s a limited market. If you put more money in more is extracted. That’s pretty f***ing obvious, especially at the higher levels.
They are not inflated they get the market rate for their service. As do nurses, the usual comparative example we get when talking about footballers income.
Absolutely
@WalsallOne with financial fair play. Limiting turnover to club spends. More financial
Controls. It all points to their being less inflation now than ever. Clubs are less likely to spend what they haven’t got. Not many clubs going to the wall. Not many points deductions other than last seasons in the Prem spring to mind. Players at all levels are benefiting and so they should !
@Exile i don’t understand the relevance of a limited market ? The only thing you could argue is inflated are agents fees but again they’re extracting the money their clients generate.
Bradford are doing a £5 ticket offer for their match with Colchester on 22nd. I’m still not sure why we haven’t done the same yet. Maybe Harrogate is the one where we should try and pack the place.
I wouldn’t mind them doing a £5 ticket offer for the lsdt 4 games… even though im a season ticket holder…i would rather have the place packed
Could do £10 game adult ticket with voucher for free pint .then short staff the bar .
Is Harrogate staying at 3pm or is that still to be moved?
That is obvious game for final ticket offer of the season. Limited away support, bank holiday and sort of game where team needs extra 10% to get over the line potentially given they’ll only be three games left to play after Good Friday.
We’re certain to average over 6,000 this season. Could end up closer to 6,500.
A fine effort and without looking, possibly our best average for twenty years when we were in the second tier.
Which suggests that 5,000 isn’t our glass ceiling and a bit of success coupled with some intelligent pricing incentives for chosen games means we might just be able to compete in the third tier where the average is around 8,000.
There’s some big clubs up in the third tier atm but it would be interesting to see where our average ranks amongst them. There’s definitely a few clubs we’ll be averaging more than without looking. With more regular sold out away ends, it should be that bit higher should we go up too.
We’d be in the bottom 6 even with our average attendance going up this year. Would need some serious investment to compete in League 1
Away fans will provide that.
Correct about the positioning - there are currently 4 clubs with average attendances below 6,000 in L1 - apologies for the format
There are at least half a dozen or more, starting with Wrexham, who have had similar or lower gates than us in the past. You can include Stockport, Northampton and the Sloppies in that.
Many of those averages will be inflated by heavy away, sold out, followings from the big boys.
But it does show what is possible with the right sort of ambition.
Looks like the club have decided to limit those heavy sold out away followings to 1900 odd though.
Agree, Blues, Wrexham for sure will always sell out their away allocation but Bolton and Huddersfield always travel well too…
Surprised at Lincoln’s average tho…
Next year most of the relegated teams will bring plenty and probably sell out. Especially Argyle.
An away day I am very excited about and plan to give you all loads of inside Plymouth information, fingers crossed for a sunny August Saturday 3pm!
Although it will probably be a rainy December Tuesday night!
