Jamie Jellis signs

At the end of the day, money has a big part to play. If you get offered a huge salary increase …

Not surprised Jellis is attracting attention from the Championship, his movement off the ball and general energy is excellent, and he’s shown an eye for goal.

As others have said, big test for Trivela.

I’ve long held the view that under the Bonser regime we sold players long before we saw any really benefit from them - ie a promotion.

IMO we’d be better giving Jellis a pay rise now and an extra year, keeping hold of him, in the hope we get promotion, then give him 6 months in league 1. We’d be able to ask far more for him in 12 months time than we could now.

Hopefully we’ll be with him then.

I really rate jellis but he isn’t better than hutch and his struggled in league 1
Is jellis really a championship player yet or is it more of a potential he could be one day thing ?

In your opinion.

I thought Hutch was great, but Jellis is far more of an all round player. It’s hard to tell which players will make the step up until they actually get there.

I wouldn’t swap Jellis for Hutch right now if it was on the table, personally.

Edit

It probably is just potential regarding the Championship at this moment in time with Jellis.

Not the same type of player at all.

Indeed, Hutch is a playmaker, Jellis more of a midfield dynamo.

Hate all the talk of us losing our best players already.
January is going to be a worry with the likes of Jellis and Barrett to name just two of our players that are producing the goods at the moment. Will be interesting on the other hand to see how our new owners operate if we do receive any interest in our players.
We will hopefully add to our squad to strengthen our push to get out of this terrible league.

I’m fine with our best players leaving as long as we get a decent fee.

Jellis is as you say a much better all round player. He can slot in to various systems, whereas with Hutch, it felt like the team had to be built to accommodate him in the hole.

As a result if Hutch had a bad game, so did everyone else, and vice versa. Jellis compliments others really well.

That’s very true and i think it’s unlikely jellis would have a stinker like hutch was capable of simply by the way he plays
I do wonder how hutch would get on in this team though where he wasn’t as highly relied on and others were a threat

I actually agree with that Jellis very different type of player and is better suited to us at this moment in time ,saying that Hutch would still get in this side plus Jellis for me .can he step up to higher level? Early days to tell for me he’s had less than half a season .Hutch yes definitely think he had the skill set to , struggled a bit to establish himself but is now winning the fans over and putting in some decent performances.

Need to be giving him an extension, I’m sure talks will open very shortly.

I think it’s a bit unfair to compare Hutch and Jellis. Jellis is more of an all round midfielder and box to box. It’s like saying Joe Edwards was a number 10 because he could get into the box and score 5-7 a season, Oztumer was the creator in that 11.

Thanny had loads of stick over last few years for being mean about Kinsella but this is what he was on about. Kins would get towards the box and his main instinct would be just to pass sideways. He’d also rarely want to get into the box to get on the end of passes/crosses. This was him playing as an 8 not as a 6.

Jellis wants to do all that and more and is a very impressive finisher when he gets a chance so no real surprise a more forward thinking midfield has lead to a far better league season so far.

They already have

Hopefully not out too long.
Neither Earing or Hall have done enough last 2 games to warrant starting
