Jan Webster

Remember going in one friday or saturday night to watch Magnum all those years ago , and couldn’t breathe , was it the low ceiling then Sid , and i thought it was all the fag smoke

Was the Spiders Web opposite the bus stops , and by or part of a mans clothes shop ?

It was a mixture of the low ceiling, bad air circulation and the fact that if it were open now,the fire brigade would close it down or halve the capacity.

Half way down Station Street coming from Park Street on the right.
Just a doorway entrance and wouldn`t have even known it was a nightclub.

Think i remember it , a black wall outside with a white web painted on it yes ?
Sure there was a mans boutique at the front maybe ?

I snuck in the duck under age to watch a couple of bands but wasn’t brave enough to try the spiders web

snuck in the duck:rofl:
Yes it had, id forgotten about that web on the wall. Wasnt a place for the faint hearted and was a punch up virtually every time i went in.
Pitch black inside with a few dim light bulbs hanging down and beer soaked sticky carpets.
Still, we thought it was great at the time.

RIP Jan, very likeable bloke. Got to know him through work. Loved all sports not just Rugby. He attended our visit to wembley in 2015. Be sadly missed.
