He’s a big, strong, aggressive and mobile defender who has experience in League One as well as League Two having been on loan elsewhere in the first half of this season.
He’s someone who takes pride in his defending, he’s eager to succeed and he brings another layer to our defensive options.
Anyone who takes pride on their defending is a huge tick in my book and layers are key.

You make a good point. Although I would say rather than filling in gaps we build our team around loans. Two of our better players that just left were loans. Our main goalscorer is a loan.
I get it, all clubs use loans at our level. It kind of goes against the incremental progress line though. Last season we had a strong season, even if it ended in disaster. That was mainly down to having the core of the team in place who had played together and adding bits here and there with loans. That is incremental progress I’d say in terms of on the pitch. Bit of a mess this season and at the end of this season we will be needing almost a complete rebuild.
Football has changed and I don’t like it much, to be honest. How can the kids build a connection with a team when there is such a big turnover in players all the time.
everything is put in place for the richer to get richer and the poorer lower league teams to get poorer.
Hate the way football is now . something has to change it’s getting unbearable. You can’t have a decent youngster because they will just get plucked away from you and you can’t get a decent prospect unless you have them on loan and in most cases if they do well you can’t buy they will be just taken away from you.
Add to that wasn’t it great when older players of quality used to filter down the leagues as they got older.
They don’t want/need to any more with the stupid wages in the game .

All seem to come as either raw prospects or a “can they keep fit?” Caveat.

Football has changed such a lot though. The pool of players available seems a lot different and you only had to pay these players for the last 2 and a half months back then.
I’m trying not to get into negative mode but at this moment in time I don’t feel we are a lot stronger. A lot will depend on how well Pattison does as a replacement for Finnigan and the new striker contributing a bit. I feel Okeke is a bigger miss than some are making out, because Hancock is coming back. Okeke could play on the right too and was a very talented player.
We’ll see. Still one or two deals to be done I’d imagine.

Exactly this! Where’s the long-term plan? We only sign young players to polish and then sell on for a profit - it’s all very short-term!

On team building we’ve built this years squad around some established oldies like Flint, Jamma and Albert. We tried to keep,the squad from last year together but many chose to leave. The one thing we are is a team whose whole is greater than the sum of its parts. We are bottom half in terms of wages but top 3 in position.
We are down right now and may get even more depressed after Saturday as I’ve a feeling Tranmere will get one over on us. But I definitely see some long term strategy at the club and thinking around how to build the team.
I’m taking the fact his surname is spelt with an L crossed through it as a sign we will go unbeaten when he plays😉
And 3 of those have picked up serious injuries.
I’d also argue that Allen was a punt that came good, and Hollman is 24, so think the club were looking for an immediate impact, and Hollman was looking for his big break in England.
Was thinking similar earlier. We’ve never been more reliant on loans.

I haven’t heard his name said out loud, but ł is usually pronounced as a w, so it would be as if it was Wopata.
