Keith Ball

Just heard Keith Ball passed away. First choice GK when I started to support the Saddlers. Short in stature but good and reliable.
Thoughts with his family. RIP

Very sad news. Never really first choice but always dependable as I recall.

Sad news indeed. Met Keith a few times at former players events. Lovely man.

Remember seeing Keith in goal for the Saddlers. Was usually second place to Bob Wesson but I never thought there was much between them. Sorry to hear of another former Saddler passing

Sad news RIP Keith

Sad news. Was a great guy.

Bloody hell
I don’t really remember Keith as a Walsall player, but i worked with him for years when he was employed by Walsall council as one of our storemen, a lovely man with a very amiable nature, always there to help, and unflappable.
R.I.P mate a true gentleman, my thoughts and love to his family at this extremely sad time, but you should all be very proud of what he achieved x

Came in his own at the start of 1967 - 8 and played in all the games till mid November when he became injured.

More sad news. RIP Keith.

Caught him when he came back to play a couple of games in 72-73, in our season of goalkeepers.
RIP Keith.

In the late sixties I went to St Michaels primary in Pelsall, and at the summer fete there was a “Beat the Goalie” attraction and Keith Ball was the keeper. Can’t imagine a professional keeper doing that nowadays.
RIP Keith.

I asked Keith about that spell in 72 and this was his reply…

” I had the impression I was returning for a decent stint, to the end of the season maybe but its a good job I didn’t put in my notice with my day job as chairman Ron Harrison later phoned to say it was just for a month!”

Think he did the same at king George’s at the bloxwich carnival early seventies RIP Keith

What a brilliant read. Players like that are few and far between now if at all. Always gave 100% when called upon.

Thank you for posting this.

Just a timely happenstance. I stumbled across it while mooching through the Trust’s not-very-up-to-date website so the credit is all theirs - especially David Evans who wrote it.

Sorry to read about Keith Ball a true saddler. RIP Keith.
