L 1-0 vs Carlisle United (A) - League Two - Sat 27th Nov, 3pm

To be fair, I don’t think it’s ideal preparation for a football match.

The only problem I have is with those who think Taylor gets no say in this at all. They are presumably the ones who think Fullarton brings in every player without consultation and Matt is surprised on a Monday morning by there being a new face at the training ground.

These are all collaborative decisions, made within the confines of a budget but, like with the alterations to the training complex, I have no doubt that if Matt Taylor was insistent that an overnight stop was needed, it would have happened.

Its not, but its not the reason we lost either.

Fullerton and Taylor admit to having disagreements about players. I seriously doubt JF would bring a player to the club without MT’s or LP’s approval.
The bottom line is we just don’t score enough goals. Miller runs his nads off, but rarely receives the ball at his feet where he’s most effective.
Our centre back are awesome defenders but they tend to play hoof ball instead of keeping it on the deck, when they play on the deck their passing is inaccurate.
Osadebe playing well is vital to the way we play the game, when he’s in form we have tempo and create more chances. He’s too inconsistent which reflects badly on the team. We have too many players underperforming.

The playing style moans are a bit disingenuous. The general feeling from the crowd as soon as we start to play through the thirds is whinging that we’re not “gerrin’ it forward!”.

It’s all well and good claiming we should be braver. Mayo, Earing, Kinsella and Wilkinson are all braver on the ball than anyone dared to be last season, as soon as they are though people whinge :man_shrugging:

Nobody cares if you’re winning, we’re just not doing that enough.

I think it’s because MT keeps saying that we play the right way etc. Yesterday he was saying about how we try to manipulate the ball. There’s no right way to play football, and you’re right, all most fans want to see is effective football (me included!). But as honest as he mainly is some of us don’t see any evidence of this style /approach /philosophy / whatever you want to call it that he keeps talking about.

How many has Monthe scored in previous seasons at other clubs? Bit puzzled at his lack of scoring threat.

Yeah someone like Butler was always great at getting on the end of stuff and would be good for at least 5 a season while clearing loads at the other end.

Even in 2016/17 pretty sure Scott Laird chipped in with a few goals so while it’s not a essential component dosen’t half help if defenders can score the odd goal or at least get on the end of a set piece.

Like I said, I’ve definitely seen them try to build through the thirds. But when they do all I hear by me is fans huffing and puffing.

We’re playing an attacking midfielder in front of the back four to play more football, we’ve got centre halves actually looking to play out, the goalkeeper doesn’t even kick the ball half way he’s constantly looking to play out to the wings. The problem is we get to a certain point, our wingers and 10 give us very few options, and then we have to play it in behind the centre halves because there’s no other option.

If the matches and football was enjoyable as the games under Buckley, they can eat steak and chips and drink full fat milk. Perhaps that’s the problem too much analysis.

Bit bemused they had to catch it from Bescot, getting coach from Essington would shave 10 minutes off and they could be inside waiting while it turned up.

We we play with 3 midfielders one of them has to be a serious goal threat… which they aren’t.

That’s actually very true Kinsella never scores and Alfie Bates has only ever scored that one that went straight in off the corner in the fa cup so it’s not as though there’s even goals coming off the bench there’s obviously a lack of goal threat running through the whole squad.

Nice sunset though.

I don’t understand why we haven’t signed that Cameron Archer from Aston Villa on loan till end of the season he’s almost Guaranteed to score 10-12 if we did .

Totally. Osedebe has been really poor this season. Not sure why Fullerton gave him a contract last season. I’d definitely push Earing forward and play Kinsella holding.

“Why didn’t we sign X player we were never linked with” is exhausting.

Wasn’t it Dutton who signed him up, I remember him saying how lucky we were to sign such a player!

He’s shit.

Yes. Contract extended in April.

Yeah originally, Fullerton gave him and Perry new deals when he came in.

When he first signed he was apparently scouted and “brought off the sofa” by Dutton.

Saddlers Head Coach Brian Dutton is also happy to have secured Osadebe’s services.

“I’m delighted Emmanuel has agreed a new deal,” Dutton said.
April 12th.
