Think we need the kids a go in this one - at least from the bench. Need to focus on next season and give the players who have a chance of earning a contract a chance to impress too.
That being said - I’d still start with Roberts and Kanu - even though we won’t see them next season!

The referee for this one is Benjamin Speedie from Merseyside. He is a well established official at League 1 & 2 level who now also gets some games at Championship level.
He last officiated us back in October 2025, our 1-2 home loss to Barrow, prior to that was our 0-2 away win against Morecambe in February 2025.
In each of those games he sent off a player from the opposing side.
He last officiated Harrogate back in March 2025, their 0-0 away draw at Chesterfield.
Will he manage another dismissal or will there still be 22 players on the pitch at full time.
Lets see how this one goes.

It might be a dead rubber for us but Harrogate are fighting for their league status and won’t be turning up to do us any favours so it could be very keenly contested. I think we will win but for most of the season our home form has been very disappointing so hopefully we can sign off (at home) with a win.

I think it will be a joke if they wheel out Matt to say ‘goodbye’ - when some of our academy graduates could be given a chance tomorrow.

Just get this season over with.

Top at Christmas and yet hit the dead rubber stage with weeks to spare. Silly .

Anyway. 2-1.

The 5500 Walsall fans indifferent

The 360 Harrogate fans gutted.

Same with the likes of Lopata, rather see Stan Straw on the bench.

There was one season when, in one late in the season game, we blooded Clive Platt and, in the next one, Michael Ricketts. No such talent around now, I fear.

I’m happily going today because the euphoria that will be felt at FT that it’s over and the freedom that will bring will probably be one of the best feelings from a home game in a while.

The first image is from the official Walsall X account, so Crod can’t take credit for that.

I don’t want to see Matt ever again.

I’ve never watched the play-off final back. But mates who watched it on the box matched my feelings that it was possibly the worst display by a centre forward they’d ever seen in league football let alone in such a vital game.

It still beggars belief that his reward for that was a new contract.

I do sometimes wonder if Trivela are just massive trolls. Because had they set out to troll me in the last couple of years I’m not sure what they’d have done differently.

Im so relieved we are not in the playoffs. That’s all I’ve got to say about today.

Dow care.

On to the new season!

It’s been another disappointing season, no doubt, but, for me, watching Walsall is what it’s about. I hope for promotion and exciting play as much as anyone, and I am gutted when we lose, but over the long term, it’s watching Walsall that counts. So, although it will be good to have (another!) fresh start, I am still looking forward to today.
