A rare away game where my journey time will be virtually identical to those travelling from Walsall (just over 3 hours each).

Can anyone tell me the last time we won 4-2 ???

Just a much nicer experience with nicer fans than going to $hitholes like Stevenage, Crawley, Salford etc

I’m a red-and-white Walsall supporter but I live in Swansea. As such, I also take an interest in my “local” team - in fact, you could say they were my second team (but a distant second). Interestingly, Swansea have had a big change in players this term: not as big as the Saddlers, of course, but big, and they’ve lost some of their best players, too; not sure you could say that about Walsall, although some on UTS are getting nostalgic about players we’ve shown the door!
Why all this? Well, coincidentally, Swansea’s league record this season is identical to ours, even the goals for and against. They also have a new, relatively young, relatively untried manager who got appointed fairly late in the day.
It’s something that the Swansea manager said yesterday that seems to echo a number of UTSers on here. Russel Martin said, after they had been tanked 3 - 1 by Stoke (of all people): “The team are not yet fit enough to play the style we want them to play”.
They have had a pattern of a decent first half, fading later. He reckons when they get up to scratch fitness-wise, results will improve significantly.
Does this sound at all familiar? Should we be a tad more optimistic than many of us have been so far?
Discuss.

Same here mate - ordered mine on saturday - still hadnt arrived today. I emailed the club earlier and to be fair they replied within a few minutes saying they had been posted out but if they havent arrived tomorrow they would arrange for me to pick them up from hartlepool. I do live in a block of flats in Gateshead but replied if someone had nicked my Walsall tickets they really need help…

Interesting. I haven’l lived in Walsall for decades but have never had the slightest interest in clubs in other places I lived… Cardiff, Bradford, Belgium, Bolton and now Wigan the only exception being a few KVK Ieper matches during my Belgian years in the Belgian God knows what provisional league. Went to see FC Bruges a couple of times when I lived in West Flanders and Antwerp when I lived in East Flanders. Bored rigid unless the match involves the Saddlers.

I am sure there was a club in Wigan that we used to frequent when coming back from Haydock called Goose Green? it was superb

Got home and it had come in the post, was getting abit nervous that it wasn’t going to arrive

4 games in no strikers and we’re all ready down the bare bones, think I’ll give this one a miss.

2-0 loss

I have a spare ticket, free to anyone who wants to go and can give a lift there and back as I’m driving up there if needed.

The best 4-2 of all.

I don’t get all this gel and haven’t played together malarkey. It’s 11 v 11 and the best team on the day will win. All seems like excuses to me. Most teams in league two will have quite a few new players. Matt Taylor for me hasn’t got the balance right yet and he’s cost us a few times with his in game management ( that doesn’t give the players a free pass btw). Most new managers flop but they do need time to grow ( look at dean smith) problem is will we be patient enough if we’re floating around the relegation zone like we was during smith bad runs ? It’s all gonna take time but that doesn’t excuse not winning in the first 3 games, we simply wasn’t good enough.

It didn’t fly for Clarke and it won’t fly for Taylor (and in fairness, I haven’t heard the man himself say it at all).

This brings me to what I witnessed with Stephen Ward the other night did anyone else see him head to ball from the right hand side as you look at the pitch from behind the goal blindly back into the middle of the pitch straight to their player instead of down the line and giving them possession in a dangerous area I mean new or not how many games has he under his belt it was suicidal.
