Firstly - tactical side. Coughlan outdid us in every way and Sadler didn’t have a clue what to do.
Evans. Shambles, but should never ever have been in the starting 11. Ridiculous performance. I can’t ever recall our fans chanting for one of our own players to be sent of.
Gordon terrible. Crosses are pathetic, and he made about 6 mistakes before his own mistake the the opening goal. I’ve never rated him.
Okagbue - should not be playing every week.
Daniels - Just shaky.
Priestley - the only who didn’t look all at sea
Knowles - pathetic. How he’s a professional footballer is beyond me. The most damning thing today was that he wasn’t even our worst player.
Comley - confused. He’s played as the single pivot for weeks and now he’s being asked to play next to Stirk.
Stirk - rusty and completely off it.
Hutchinson - was trying to get on the ball but was often on his own with no one to pass to. I’d be off in the summer if I were him. Ridiculously subbed when Knowles stayed on.
Faal - useless.
Gordon - absolutely useless.
Sadler got it badly wrong today. I hope, when I click on his interview - that he admits he’s got it wrong. If I hear him say ‘that’s not like us’ - I’m going to lose it.
I’m not even giving that the credibility of justification
I’ve come on here and moaned about the performance not the result many many times and if you need to ask when then it’s clear you don’t really read what I say.
Which is fair enough, as it is your gift to read what you like.
3-0 down at half-time to Newport County, 16th in Division 4: what are we supposed to do - shower them with rose petals? They need to get their heads out of their arses and start performing better!!
From what I can gather Faal had a bad game. Don’t understand why he starts over Jamma. Glad Jacko will play our next few games and hope he plays well and cements his place.
Real problem is our defence. Can’t believe we’ve conceded 6 to Newport this season. This needs fixing and it might be time to give the Irish lad from Drogheda a go.
Overall I think we’re just too soft when it comes to playing small low budget clubs like Harrogate Sutton and Newport. For me that’s on Sadler and our coaching team. No point beating the Wrexham’s and Stockport if you can’t beat the smaller teams. Need better against Crawley and Mansfield. UTS.
Strange interview for me. He suggests the way Newport started today is what we usually do to teams but the stats do not back it up. In the League we’ve scored just two goals in the first 20 minutes of matches and conceded 15.
Player wise we should be doing better than we are
Our manager is making us worse, give our team to Newport’s manager he’d be top 10
Newport’s manager made sadler look like a lost little boy tactically and totally destroyed him
We started at a snail’s pace and both Gordon and DD made howlers. The game was over in the first fifteen minutes because Newport closed us down quickly and were organised unlike us.
In all the years I’ve supported Walsall I can’t recall our own fans shouting for one of our own to be sent off. In fairness what Evans was thinking for their third goal only he knows.
I’ve listened to the manager giving his post match interview and it’s utterly bizarre.
There were many poor performances today from our players and it’s definitely one to forget.
At least it’s almost certainly ended the playoff hopes.
I’ve never played at any kind of level, but I have seen enough games to know that Daniels and L. Gordon were all over the place down that left side, and they rightly targetted it. Do we ever stop a cross going in? Seems to have been a problem all season.
Not really fair for me to pick out individuals today as there were problems everywhere, but the one player in the team that is likely to either score or make something happen, he took off.
Hard work trying to keep your Son interested when you are 3-0 down and don’t really believe what you are saying. It is all just so very depressing being a Walsall fan. Good job that results don’t matter, right?
Due to work commitments that’s the first game I’ve been to since Christmas. I’ve already got tickets for next week… Hopefully will have some faith restored by then.
Couple of things …
I hope they don’t put an appeal in for Evans red card…knowing our luck it will be the only thing we win in February.
Also Faal… I believed the issue Sadler has with Johnson was he didn’t work enough for the team. I didn’t see Faal doing much running, closing down. I’ve not been impressed with him at all.
I can’t be the only one that thinks Daniels looks better going forward these days then he does at the back.
Jackson Smith seemed to be limping at end of the game… Hope it nothing serious.
It feels like last year, every time we drop out it makes our next three…must win…then next four and each time that pressure ramps up. Before you know it you have 10 games without a win.
Just watched the highlights and, my oh my, there’s nothing there that can be defended. For the players not to realise how bad it looks for paying supporters is also perplexing. The only positive is that for the likes of Jackson, DJ, Adegboyega, Tierney, Riley, Foulkes, Jellis, Matt, etcetera, they have every right to be knocking the manager’s door down if they are not being considered very very soon as starters.
