L 3-1 vs Notts County (H) - League Two - Sat 13th April, 3pm

Serious question can anyone see us being contenders for promotion next season ?,based on what players we have and progress etc this season ,I personally can’t see us doing any better than this season.hope I’m proven wrong.

He was absolutely dreadful. People go “oh Josh Gordon plays because he’s vital to Sadlers pressing style” (lol) then why does Hutchinson play? He jockeys … and jockeys …. And jockeys …. And then just gets bypassed easily. When he does put a foot in it’s f***ing horrendous and is usually a foul and a free kick, but thankfully it’s rare he bothers. That’s before you get to his horrendous shooting today.

But today wasn’t on Hutchinson individually. It wasn’t on any of them individually, they were piss poor as a collective.

It was men against boys whenever Notts County went up a gear, and the slap down after we scored absolutely summed it up. It resembled a midget being held at arms length at times today. They kept the ball at absolute will and for a “pressing team” we couldn’t get it off them for love nor money.

And while I’m on that, I heard loads of bollocks about playing style last season, how is it better to watch a team that concedes possession and endlessly chase shadows? We seem to do a lot of it. I also remember last season when half time substitutions were “an admittance that the manager got it dead wrong from the start”. How many games in a row have we used them now?

Ref was a tool too.Fast tracked to the EFL and isn’t nowhere near ready for it.

You cannot play against 14. …referee and Assistants very poor but we lost because of poor defending .All 3 goals came about because of that but we had a good goal disallowed , hit the post and missed countless chances against a team packed with quality players who are still below us in the League. All this malice against MS I just don’t get. We are a young team which has had a lot of injuries to contend with and we are not that far off being a good team at this level. Trivela have worked wonders off the field now they have to provide the funds to give us more attacking options next season.UTS

Every team will have a What If & an If Only - who knows perhaps Crawley hit the bar twice before Colchester scored, but Tuesday & today do feel like a massive opportunity missed!
It just seems bizarre that we are still in with a theoretical chance of the play-offs.
Donny having won 13 in a row to lose on penalties to Barrow in the play-off final.

I can tbf, we’ve got a biggish squad and I’m happy with the core of this side. Just missing a bit of quality in areas and maybe a bit more luck/injury prevention if applicable with regards to players been out. We could definitely work on keeping possession better and we have a pretty young side. I’d hope there isn’t a big churn this summer, we need a decent start cause we’ve been playing catch up every season from memory.

Thank you WS1. A good assessment to balance the usual overreactions.

It was disbelief they ask for it. Which is a joke. So completely relevant :+1:t3:

In this league sometimes one loan can have a drastic effect on results, so too early to say promotion is not possible. The main goal will be the same, to be better than 20 other teams.

What a load of absolute nonsense. We’ve got a young group, plenty of upside potential in these players (and manager too) and I have no doubt we will strengthen in the Summer. Let’s not throw the baby out with the bathwater, when was the last time the 4th from last game had something riding on it for us?

I completely agree to be honest , that run we went on saved him and gave us a glimmer of hope , but realistically it put us in a false position

Sadler’s thoughts

To boo any of our players is down right ridiculous regardless of who it is and how poor they are.

That performance today summed up Walsall FC in a nutshell. Im annoyed and gutted to be honest. A few players didnt look particularly arsed, a few with very poor performances and a absolutely baffling set of substitutions from the manager. All round accountability needs to be took for me.

Hutch finally looks like hes had enough.

Comley with a moment of stupidity that this time last year we’d of expected from “Liabilty Labadie”.

Strikers that cant hit a barn door with a banjo.

Wingbacks that just arent good enough.

A mardy arse (granted Jacko was out so didnt really have a choice) for a Goalkeeper thats becoming more and more of a liabilty every time he plays.

I said back in January/Feb that Sadler had earned the right to take us through to the end of the season. Im going to put it out there now - thats as far as i want him to, to be honest.
Yes we’ve improved, more points, higher position, more goals etc etc. But weve bottled it. From shoehorning players in from the get-go (Knowles), to rushing players back into the team after injuries (DD, Jamma etc) and the same stale and ineffective substitutions at any point from HT to around 60mins (Tierney, DJT etc).

Now ROK is aboard, I’d welcome a change for next season i think. I know its not ideal, chopping and changing, but i agree with several people on here that have said - we will not get promoted under Sadler. Not this season and i dont think next.

At 2-0 down. He should of gambled at HT and gone for it, not the same weak as piss subs ive just mentioned. Give Jellis 45. Get a goalscorer on (DJ) for 45. Take either Stirk or Comley off and actually go for it.

Fed up with the same old bollocks, expecting different outcomes.

It aint over i suppose but we aint getting in now based on cack like that.

Gutted

Match lowlights

We are definitely missing that little bit of cutting edge to our game we were very stand off today. Would be nice to see more through balls.
