Don’t get me wrong I agree with you to a degree I think in all it wasn’t a bad performance at all.

It’s why when I look at this, the shots we had, the way we went about it with 10 men, the work rate shown……I cannot understand booing that or moaning about it.

Stirk and Hutch have literally run their legs off.

I think we’re way more than 2/3 players off it.

To be title challengers our starters need to be better than :-

Allen
Dave
Comley
Stirk
Matt
J Gordon - but id caveat that and if we have better alongside him I think he plays a part.

All of whom make good squad players.

No we dont. certainly not rigidly which was where i came into the conversation.

:joy: oh my lord. Your formation doesn’t change every time a player moves on the pitch! They generally do that! :joy::joy::joy:

At one point, Taylor Allen was one on one with their keeper, but he wasn’t playing f***ing striker!

Must win tommorow and hope Barrow beat Crawley if that happens we are back in the game.

McEntee for Dave for me to solve one of those issues. Allen has done well…he could improve further but agree we need cover. Comley has had a good season…might be ok if we could control the ball more and had better players up front. That is where I would spend my money…2 or 3 quality players there would make a lot of difference.

whats that got to do with anything? i was the one who said the formation doesnt do justice to Gordon and Foulkes who get up and down the pitch.
The formation is just a shorthand for broadly understanding what is happening. Its not ultimate truth.

… I’ve got no idea what the f*** that means.

But I do know we play two up front.

Having been involved in and witnessed a number of your ‘debates’ over the years 99% come down to the fact you don’t actually understand or comprehend the other persons point of view,. Most people would have the self awareness to realise that. You have to resort to swearing :man_shrugging:

I think we need better than Comley.

He is very limited with his ball retention and although he does well chasing around defending if were to win more games we need a player there that can take the ball off the back 3, pass forwards and most importantly switch play rather than going back into the pressure just because that’s the way he’s facing or it’s on his right foot.

When you look at them and realise they had John Bostok in that position we had Comley in……MK had Lewis Bate on loan from Leeds and Jack Payne, Stockport have Callum Camps, Wrexham have George Evans, Mansfield have Louis Reed……

It’s so vital to have someone who can give it to your attacking players.

Agree on McEntee btw :+1:

Nope. It’s not as effective when you try that one, sorry. You’re the bloke that claimed you can’t see the whole of the pitch from the side of it the other day :joy:

We play two up front, simple.

I agree we can do better but can we afford a Payne or an Evans? If we can then I would agree with you but if the budget is tight then I would spend it on quality further up the pitch. Incidentally we shall see Stirk in that position on Tuesday. He did well there early season if I recall correctly. Is he better than Comley? I also wonder if Jellis could play the role you describe.A big ask in his first full season but sometimes these sort of signings come off.

Yes I agree - we will always be governed by finances firstly.

I think Stirk will be there Tuesday and I think that’s his most natural position with Tierney alongside hutch.

Yes I think that will be the 3 on Tuesday. It will interesting to see how it works . The only problem I have is that Stirk and Tierney look alike from a distance and I can get them mixed up!!

Interesting and enjoyable analysis CS but disagree somewhat about how good County are.
Yes at times you can clearly see quality and the tactical a technical ability.
But off the ball and in the gettng your hands dirty side of the game they are miles off.In many ways that leaves them with as much to do as us in the summer. They won’t be asking Bostock to win many duals and he wouldn’t be getting much help in that department from his other midfielders. Jones got absolutely trounced going backwards at their place. And the centre halfs were very shaky at points both home and way.
They had started to creak before the manager left for Swansea and some fans were on his back. I think the position they are in now up to 8th or 9th is fair reflection of County standing. They have conceded 80 goals somehow ftom averaging probably 60 to 70 percent posession every game.

Bring on Swindle another terribly difficult game, :weary:wrong time to be playing these,:smirk:Tuesday night curse, never play well .:triumph:4 wins in last 14 games them .Comely suspended .fear the worst ,a “ not like us performance” .but you never know do you . and even if the worst happens .if results go for us we could still be in it :joy:.bring on Wembley

I’m not necessarily judging them on their league position or how they did last time we played them…I’m judging them on what I watched Saturday……and again yesterday

They were excellent and when you have the ball for that long you’ll win more games than you don’t.

They were excellent going forward but they did create a lot of difficult situations for themselves by overplaying at the back, particularly with those silly goal kick routines.

They launched most goal kicks over the head of our centre half’s? They nearly caught us out twice with it. Their centre forward was literally standing 10 yards behind our defenders waiting for it.

And those “silly” ones where they kept it they passed round us with ease. I think we nearly caught them twice all game from memory and I’d say the result justified their “silly” decision as it allowed them to retain possession, which was clearly their game plan. It worked.
