I think those days are gone now, although as you say there is still something to play for. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, a lot of games in a short space of time = a lot of cost. It’s not a cheap game following football these days.
I was surprised I was able to get Wimbledon tickets earlier this week, I thought those would have gone. I am guessing if there is something to play for next Saturday, they will go quickly.
I’m going for a 3-1 win tomorrow although I think it will be a close game and we will only make it safe when they decide to go for it, break away attack with DJT scoring in 91st minute.
The thing is everyone is waiting for the rails to come off. We had it in our hands and 1500 turn up to Mk and it implodes again. Then we have numerous bites at the cherry before and since then with teams messing up. Against Notts County the other results wouldve been an 150 to 1 and we still mess up. The support has been magnificent but theres only so much belief you can have. See you all tomorrow where that fat bastard will win the game in the last minute or all the stars align and we finally drub someone at home 5-0.
Like I’ve said above they won’t attract many extra fans how expensive pay on the day can be they should have just charged 15 quid and let kids in free with a paying adult get the place rocking.
Well I went to the ticket office at 1.30 and asked how the sales were going and if we had sold over 6k and she said oh yes definitely so would expect close to a 7k crowd .
With all things considered 3 home games on the trot and probably around a 30% chance of making the playoffs that would be a decent crowd.
I think we’ll see around 6000 at the Bescot tomorrow.
We should be well up for this - but us winning depends on us putting away our chances. If were manager I’d go:
Smith
Liam Gordon
Foulkes
Allen
Farq
DD
Stirk
Tierney
Hutch
DJ
Faal
Comely’s been good so I’d be very happy to see him come back in - likewise happy to see Knowles get back in - but Foulkes has been getting better with each game I’ve seen him recently. Jamma for Faal also a good option - though I think we’ll need some energy upfront which is why I’d go for Faal. Earing for Tierney if fit. COYS!
I think that could well be the team apart from DJ i still think he’ll pick Gordon and Faal. The Priest is a difficult one he’s really good when he’s fit I’d say it’s been bad luck but Newport fans say he was exactly the same there or he would be playing in League one he only seems to manage around 25 games a season very injury prone.
All I want when the final whistle goes today is for it still to be mathematically possible to make the playoffs next Saturday.Even if we have to have other results go our way next weekend at least it’s something for us to be involved in on the last day.
We need Wrexham to beat Crewe , barrow to win v Donny , Sutton to beat Crawley , Colchester to lose so when they play Tuesday v Donny they’ve got something to play for
A Barrow-Donny draw wouldn’t be a bad thing - would keep an extra playoff place in the picture (for a while longer at least) and put us 3 points and a slightly better GD up on Doncaster.
A Sutton-Crawley draw would also be enough to put us ahead of them.
A Sutton win would be better if Colchester don’t get the win they need today to guarantee they avoid the drop - as you say, would then give the Us more of an incentive to get a result at Donny on Tuesday. And also a Gillingham win would keep them in the running (if Doncaster don’t win both their games) going into their last game where they are at home to them (that could be as big a shit-or-bust game as much as ours at Wimbledon will be if they win today).
Colchester lose today draw on Tuesday (and Sutton beat Crawley) - they still have something to play for next Saturday when they host Crewe (who hopefully get beaten by Wrexham today) and that could give us yet another chance of a playoff spot.
All dependent on us doing our bit and winning our last 2 games of course, but if the stars do align we could even finish as high as 5th!
It’s just great to enjoy the end of a season. Yes it’s frustrating we could be already in the playoffs due to opportunities missed, but given the injuries we’ve had and the fact Sadler is still learning, I’ll be delighted if we are still in with a shot come 17.00 tonight. Can’t be there myself but I hope everyone gets behind the boys today. There are so many interesting permutations, but we just need to win. There will be times when we’re not looking great, but this team deserve our support. No boos. No jeers. Only then can the supporters say they have truly done their bit. Interestingly, the first goal will be key. We very rarely lose this season if we score first. UTS.
Our last home game of the season, it’s a beautiful day and everything to play for. The team needs to grab this game by the scruff of the neck from the start and go for it like there’s no tomorrow.
Everyone needs to be behind the players regardless of who is or isn’t starting. Lose or draw we have shown progress win and the dream of the playoffs is still alive. Bloody hell what’s not to like about our current situation.
