Dead rubber I agree also from a fans perspective away game expense and no interest in this competition. But from a club perspective our present injury problems league position confidence i think it’s very important a great opportunity to give a few youngsters some minutes but most of all a lot of the others who are 1st team squad players are undoubtedly going to have to play a part in the 1st team until injury situation improves .it’s going to be January before we can bring in new faces .this is one match we’re the result doesn’t matter .I hope Matt doesn’t waste the opportunity and uses it correctly think also he should go with a two up front DJ being one of them .
Possibly:
Smith
Foulkes, Okagbue, McEntee, Allen
Griffith,
Knowles, Stirk, Maher
Matt, DJ
I’m assuming Tierney isn’t fit and Menayese isn’t fit enough for 90 minutes.
Would worry about risking Okagbue and Foulkes given our lack of options at C/H and RB.
Would play Menayese or Comley in defense maybe both just to get them extra fitness minutes.
Matt maybe still out with concussion.
Comley is on international duty but I agree about Meneyese. It seems an ideal game to give him a go.
Yes, forgot about Comley being away.
We have to play 4 of the players who are qualifying players
From the EFL regulations for the Trophy
edit - It is 4 players not 5 as I originally posted.
edit 2 see definition of qualifying player
I really messed this up didn’t I! (sorry)
Only 7/11 who started are available tonight? Three on international duty, Riley injured? Not a lot of room to rest players?
Dave
Stirk
McEntee
Hutch
Knowles
Is it just me that thinks that DJT looked okay on the left? He and Knowles are better off using their pace and energy on the flanks. Either could drift into the centre, alongside DJ or Matt.
It allows Hutch to play/drift in the pockets too.
There’s no way that Comley should be playing (when available) as an 8 or a 10 (!) like he did at the weekend.
There’s also RAM that deserves some game time tonight.
Safe travels and respect to anyone going to this tonight.
That looks like one up front again .
Apart from Smith for Evans (and that’s debatable), looks like the strongest XI he could start.
Just arrived in Shrewsbury. Really looking forward to it, so obviously devastated and feel stupid that I didn’t buy a ticket in advance. Gravest Fears is sold out at Theatre Severn!!
I actually quite like that eleven.
Great to see Leydon on the bench too
The Lidl’s open till 10.
You need a Lidl patience to be a Walsall fan!
We signed him. He wasn’t little.
But he needed a lot of patience.
McEntee the captain. Another indication of how highly he rates him.
Baffled by Griffiths not getting a start tbh. Can see him going back to Wolverhampton given the lack of opportunities.
