And that has worried me for quite a while, but iāve never mentioned anything as a thought.
Iām not sure how many seasons he has been with us as a coach but i recall last season or one before at least, he was called our ādefensive coachā. We have been pretty sh1te at defending crosses and corners especially for a few years despite the players we have had who youād think would be better and more commanding in the air.
Not sure what that says about his influence as a defensive coach tbh. I could be wrong as i say, but it doesnāt show that in good light if that was the case.
This isnāt a sadler out post or anything btw, just an observation of the last few seasons especially.

Sadler never has been our ādefensive coachā. That was a lazy observation by the likes of Walsall Fan TV simply because he was a defender! Itās quite rare actually for defenders to automatically become defensive coaches they often want to be more progressive and attacking than forward players who can be more pragmatic!!
As Iāve said lots of times, Sadler really wasnāt responsible for the coaching under Flynn and Hatswell. They did most things themselves and wanted a lot of control.

Fair enough, i donāt know the ins and outs of the club as you probably do but what i do know from the past few seasons is that we continue to not be very good at defending our box a lot of the time regardless of who our coaches and coaching team have been!!

Yeah I donāt disagree Iām just not sure itās fair for some to just assume that simply by virtue of being a defender that he would automatically coach a defensively sound teamā¦.
