League Cup Rd 3 Draw - Leicester City (H) again!

Sure does, watched Newcastle last night and their players stated they want to win the competition because they want to win a trophy plus it’d get them into Europe.

14+ of the 20 Premier League sides will have the same stance.

Agreed.
I really hope I am wrong about our chances of beating Leicester.
The large portion of humble pie would be very sweet should we win

Now now. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves

Lower league sides regularly beat bottom half prem teams in the cups. Do not see why it couldn’t be us, we are due a giant killing !

We are, and I think we could do this. Perhaps a route will open up to us to progress through to the semi-final at, say, Anfield just for old times sake! Hey we can dream.

On reflection it’s a decent draw and at home, so we have a chance.

I think it would be a great gesture if all the players came onto the pitch with some kind of bespoke training top with Craig Shakespeare’s name on, as a one-off.

Just about the best draw we could have hoped for. As others have said, it’s fairly local, they are a premier League side and with a bit of luck we could win or take it to a penalty shoot out.

Has a team outside the premiership ever been in Europe ?

At least one. Sunderland were in the Cup Winners’ Cup 73/4.

Werent Birmingham in the 2nd tier when they played in Europe a few years ago?

Wigan 2013.

Bradford came close the other year when they beat Villa and Arsenal

We were ‘90 Minutes from Europe’ once!

Was that actually true? If we’d beaten Liverpool and lost to Everton in the milk cup, would we have qualified for Europe?

Everton did win the fa cup that year, so I guess it’s plausible.

According to British Airways it was!

Birmingham city, won the league cup same season they were relegated. Millwall as well when they reached the final in the championship?

Not the best draw but not the worst either. I was envisaging a Barnsley away or a Stoke away. Three home draws is pretty lucky too.

Leicester will take a full allocation of around 2,500 , we should get at least 5,000 interested and maybe a few more if the ticketing is a bit creative.

Either way, over 7,000 in the third round of a cup isn’t bad at all.

We’ve probably got a one in six chance. Which are odds we’ve overcome before in this cup.

I was adamant we would get fleetwood, yes it not quite the game we wanted but if we are up for it we can cause a shock, think they will play fringe players as they will be thinking it a walk over. Just hope i can get a ticket and my health is ok for this game.

I think it’s a good tie for the 3rd round . Home advantage a big crowd chance of an upset and we don’t have to travel on a Tuesday/wed evening
