Draw or at worst County win tonight , please footballing gods
Possibly a draw would be good but I’m in the school of thought that keep the chasing pack as far behind us as we can so they can’t get third. We don’t appear to have the form to win the title now so the more than can just guarantee us top 3, the better. So Bradford win would be better than a Notts County win.
Obviously see how tomorrow afternoon’s games go, but I’d rather have less teams in with a chance of 3rd place - if some know they can’t do better than the play offs, then they may hold back a bit in the last couple of games with the play off matches in mind.
It’s quite depressing that after having a huge lead we’ve become so poor that the chasing pack have caught us up and in the case of vale and Bradford passed us. The really frustrating thing is while it was happening we continued doing the same thing over and over until we find ourselves hoping others help us to get over the line, blimey how inspiring it all is.
My brain hurts trying to work out what is best. Nott’s County play Bradford at home last game of the season. Looking at Nott’s County’s results they aren’t in great form and seem more likely to drop more points.
Every time I think I have given myself a bit of hope by working out results in a favourable way, I then remember we have to win at least 2 games to have even a chance. Then I feel sad again!
Bradford win definitely keep the chasing pack away stop dreaming about winning the league Walsall fans 3rd with some luck at best .
I want a draw, something to stop Bradford gaining too much confidence and stops Notts getting too close.
If we can end the Easter games above both Bradford and Doncaster then it puts us in a really good position with them then playing each other in the next game.
Its Doncaster I think.
Yes, you are right. I have no idea why I said Bradford, I was looking at the fixtures on my screen.
Totally agree, and with both their match, that of Wimbledon v Port Vale, and Harrogate v Notts kicking off early and finishing before we kick off against Accrington we should know exactly what we need to do, or could even be promoted provided we do the business over Easter…which is of course a big “if”.
It’s making me feel sick again
I’m actually looking forward to tomorrow now. Because to me this is when we find out if this team are good enough. If they’re not so be it is the point I’ve reached. They were miles off it last week, and towards the end of the game I was thinking “what’s the point of this lot going up?” But we all know what the point is, and yet another golden opportunity is before us. Notwithstanding the fact we can’t play ourselves we have two fixtures that you couldn’t script better for a team needing two wins - I discount MK because they’ve just appointed a new manager. If we can’t take this opportunity then we don’t deserve another one. Let’s just get stuck into them and get it done, and stop all the talk, the fannying around, bullshit and permutations, just win two sodding games against two of the worst teams in the league!!
Good post. If we cannot win tomorrow we don’t deserve to go up and if we don’t win tomorrow we won’t go up. Simple really.
Just to add also, in addition to being plain awful, Newport are in the grips of an ever-worsening injury crisis. We should be licking our lips.
But how long is that rope though?
Long enough I hope
Think we’ll see a comfortable Bradford victory tonight but I really hope I’m wrong. Reckon they’ll finish above us with Vale and we’re battling for 3rd - which I would definitely take.
I know I’m doing an if buts and maybe job here but if it’s a draw tonight and we get a win tmoz and Wombles beat Vale when they play (and I expect they will) then the cat is genuinely amongst the Pigeons….
If Carlisle get something tmoz out of their game with Vale - interesting scenario regardless (providing we win!)
Gonna be a bloody nervy few weeks…
Swindon 2007 all over again!!
Just had a quick look on the Bratfud forum…lots of very worried people…just like on here.
They’ve convinced me Notts are going to get something tonight and they’re heading for the play-offs.
