We are reaping what Sadler sowed.
I careā¦a lot. One of my favourites.
Whatās with the Walsall love in in with vale fans on Facebook. Makes me want to vomit. Game has well and truly gone.
Disgusting.
Hopefully this and Daniels being released means the end of every international break being disrupted by postponements.
And simkin gone too. Weād still have Dave, Comley, possibly RAM if he stays, then dependant on who we sign.
Hopefully theyāll also review whether a postponement was always the best way to go anyway.
Gotta love the infinite wisdom of some Walsall fans.
A player leaves to play in a higher division - āawful footballerā
Quite clearly he isnāt. Just wish the lad the best ffs
He isnāt an awful footballer, clearly.
I donāt think Iāll send my best wishes for him jumping ship to our rivals though. I donāt think I am meant to as a football fan. Iāve only just got over Wayne Clarke going to Shrewsbury.
Iām not going to cry any tears for any of this lot leaving (barring maybe Allen). Blame the owners, blame Sadler, but these players should have done better, regardless.
Solid League 2 wing-back who benefited the team far more than he hindered it.
Was his distribution and decision-making better he wouldnāt have played for us in the first place, weāre going to see very few ācompleteā players at this level.
Not sure how well equipped heāll be for League 1, but a likable player and hope he does well.
I wish him well. He always did his best for us and his pace and flair helped create a number of goals. He can be replaced though and I am sure he will be but it is up front where I want to see some positive action from the Club. We can all grumble and rightly so about the downturn in the season but what is needed more than anything is a couple of decent forwards on permanent deals.
The only times we have realistically looked like having a shot at promotion is when we have had a forward who can stick the ball in the net.
Under Flynn when DJ was firing, and last season with Lowe. With a poor forward line we are going nowhere. Well, not up anyway.
Spot onā¦I think the lad from Chester is a really good signing but to win you have to score and we need I think 2 forwards who can do that regularly. You can then build the team around supplying them with chances.
Agree. Accelerators, incremental progressives or whatever, they need to spend money on goalscorers who are contracted to the club.
Youād think after three successive years of loan failure with DJ, Draper and Lowe that the club might have been burnt enough not to make the same mistake again. Itās the biggest and most obvious failing in the past few seasons.
I think every man and his dog connected with Walsall FC knows what the main issues have been over the last few seasons, in fact, even pre-Trivela January has always been disastrous for the club.
I feel like I say it every season. The backbone of the side needs to be made up of players contracted to the club. Sounds simple but we fail every year
Another season derailment in January does not even bare thinking about
It goes back further and deeper than that though
George Miller
Mo Faal
Jake Scrimshaw.
To be fair to the club the obvious issue is that goalscorers cost money and perhaps they canāt afford the going rate.
What are the solutions?
- Grow the club so there is greater revenue to pay for a good striker
- Develop our own talent. Perhaps we are seeing this with DJT
- Adopt a style of play that isnāt reliant on a goalscorer, spread the goals around the team. I think we are seeing this also (plus this means we arenāt super reliant on one individual who could easily leave or get injured)
Like everyone else I await to see how the summer unfolds and what the club do, but I just couldnāt take another loan striker if they come up with that.
I think ālimitedā footballer is more accurate.
Heās replaceable. Nice guy but I wish him the absolute worst at Vale.
You say this, and to some extent Iād agree, we had more goals spread through the team last season, mind you it is rare to have a centre back score so many.
As I said before, the only times we have looked like having a real shot at promotion is when we have had a forward banging the goals in. DJ under Flynn, Lowe last season. As soon as they went, we were useless.
Also, when you play a 2 striker formation, assuming we do, you really do need at least one of them to contribute 15 + goals a season, in my opinion. You donāt have wide forwards chipping in goals like single striker formations.
Are you saying youād be happy with another Nathan Lowe type loan this summer though?
I wonder what Lincolnās tipping point would have been for Draper?
Another 50k, maybe 100??
Chicken feed compared the lost revenue of not going up, plus Draper wouldnāt have suddenly become worthless. We would have invested in and owned an asset that has potential to become more valuable.
Just using him as an example, not necessarily as the be all and end all. We literally had Lowe for next to nothing one would imagine, so to push the boat out and absolutely nail on that promotion last season wouldnāt have been an act of rash extravagance incompatable with notions of āsustainabilityā, it would actually have been a solid, risk averse piece of business.
