Decent bloke who did his best. As a player he won’t be missed, but wish him all the best.
We will miss Liam Gordon a lot. I think it goes without saying that he would have stayed had we gone up.
Gutted, I loved watching Liam’s marauding runs up the pitch , plus his pace saved us at the back a fair few times. Always gave it everything.
Big loss in my opinion
Decent and passionate bloke - I like Liam a lot. Got bags of pace, athletic.
…but when you look at his actual product it’s not so good - how many assists last season? Great goal against Bromley is all I remember really. Could be a blessing in disguise, but on balance I’ll miss him.
At Centre back yeah i think he was exposed badly at times, i think he was vastly under used as a reserve wing back mind. But we have all done that debate to death.
It was bizarre he couldn’t even get on the bench for me, he deffo can swing a ball in if nowt else. oh well, plenty of opportunity for him next season i suspect.
We will miss LG pace, as we are not blessed with a lot of it at the moment.
Yes, I know, but those forward runs could be seen as crosses. Especially if that was his strong side. Still, it would probably be better if someone capable of filling Matt’s role was signed — someone big and strong who can push defenders for 20–30 minutes — but that’s in the past. Now, for the next season, someone else will play in that position, and maybe the end product will be better.
Not sure it’s been said before but LG seems to take an age to recover form when he’s been away on International duty…. Made worse by the fact that in recent memory, he seems to be in decent form when he goes away….
Wish he’d gone elsewhere but good luck to him - I really don’t think he’ll make a huge difference to their team…
Its very obvious. even more so this season when he was never rested. Killed him in the end i think.
Gordon definitely replaceable for me .
Think stirk will be much more of miss if which looks likely he moves on as i think although his form dipped you will notice how instrumental he was with his energy and commitment when he’s gone.
I think that measure is not all that useful. He made 2 major contributions to goals against Chesterfield in the play offs and his winner in the League Cup took a slight deflection. None of these counted as assists and he was also the man who stayed back for corners and long throws, a job he did well but one that removed him from the opposition box.
He had his faults but lack of effort and lack of connection with the fans were not two of them.
Evan Weir is not a wing back, in my view.
League 2 footballer at best so well done to his agent getting him a league one club and league one wages, I enjoyed him when he was running at the opposition going direct down the middle, when running wide you knew a poor cross would follow if he managed one at all, his defending was bang average.
Either way no big loss imo, a likeable lad who always seemed to give his all for the cause, frees up a wage to get someone new in.
Totally disagree with that statement. When he played LWB at MK he was absolutely destroyed. Looked like he had won a competition to play there.
Looked a lot better at CB though.
And conversely we would have gone up if he hadn’t had a spell of games when he passed the ball to the opposition centre forward and stood like he’d plopped his keks just as his man crossed the ball in unchallenged. Part of the class of 2025, good player and a really nice bloke but when it came down to the acid test fine margines that define if you’re a winner or a loser he failed.
The bloke always did his best for us, so I wish him all the best for the future
Struggling to find anyone who cares
One of the bottlers of 25
Good to get rid
Even better to land Port fail with him
That’s assuming we’d have offered him a contract if we’d gone up to L1!
Seriously though, I agree he would have wanted to stay if we had gone up.
Nah , I’m with you . Quality footballer for this level and a real grafter too . Flaw was lack of composure in final phase - if he’d had that he would be at a higher level still .
You don’t miss what you’ve got till it’s gone -no way will we replace him with the same quality .
Implosion continues even when we aren’t playing :))
Delighted he has gone. No end product, gets caught out of position far too much and never ever blocks a cross. He is 100% replaceable. He will get roasted in League 1.
UP THE SADDLERS
Liam played 56 games last season which in an age of large squads and regular rotation is a ridiculous amount. Add to that all the hours he spent flying between the UK and the Caribbean and it’s little wonder he was jaded in some games.
Good luck to him- with better management of his workload I’m sure we’d have got more out of him.
