In the video interview he says he started as a centre half and converted to a left back at Airdrie.
He says he sees himself more as a left wing back at Walsall but can fill in at centre back.

It is not hancocks fault sadler sucks and he shouldnāt be treated unfairly for it
Good luck young man
The fans still havent forgiven them for last season is the issue.
Some wont stop with the vitriol until they make a name signing if they do.
He sounds a very intelligent chap, a bit like Nathan Lowe. Good luck at Walsall
He looks a bit more solid than Liam Gordon, and hopefully his final delivery is better - that shouldnāt be too difficult! Iām happy for us to pick up good, young players with something to prove. I would also like to see a few players proven at League 2/League 1 level, coming in soon, just to give us that balance.
Iām not disagreeing, but I would surprised if we sign the type of players you mention as they will come at a premium
Reserve judgement but if McEntee is good enough for the Scots Prem and also Harry then this lad is effectively another non league signing
TBH I donāt mind this approach as if we get more hits than misses then it will benefit the club both in and off the pitch. The big issue is they need to be mixed in with done prove. And experienced L1/L2 players.
Got to say I am a big fan of these first three signings on paper. All young and have really impressed at lower levels and want to challenge themselves in League 2. Iād much rather these types of players than over the hill journeymen. Obviously not all of these promising youngsters will come off but I think it is exciting and has proven successful for other clubs like Peterborough in the past. Definitely need some experience in there at some point though, but so far I am pleasantly surprised, but we will know quickly how close to the level they are. Also we should be way more cautious about putting so much pressure on them if they do start well, as we saw with Jellis and Barrett - competition and cover is needed as well. I do doubt Sadlers ability to actually effectively coach any of these lads though.
We will have learned nothing then mate imo. You invest in the right quality and experience to get us promoted. I get that it costs but imo we need to strike that balance right this summer
The problem is that with the way the back end of last season went there will be huge pressure to start off well, otherwise itāll go very toxic very fast.
Mason looks a good signing, but one that will need some time to adapt. To me he seems to play more of an LCB than an LWB at the moment but he does seem to have the attributes to make a decent LWB.
Welcome to Walsall Mason!
Welcome Mason - in isolation looks an ok signing. We will see how he gets on.
Regarding the social media reactions⦠I think itās just residual anger and frustration from the capitulation. Iām not surprised by it to be honest - just seems a human response.
Iāll look at the new signings as a whole when the transfer window ends - but just looks āokā at the moment. A lot is riding on getting quality and experience in, but also retaining Allen.
Over to the club.
I feel the Allen situation is out of the clubs hands.
Seems like a fantastic addition to the group.
ā..power and athleticism on that left hand side..ā
Great to have power, even better to have athleticism but to get them both in a single player sounds highly encouraging.
āā¦really good pedigree for that quality left foot he has.ā
These are the sorts of player we should be looking at, players with pedigree and quality. Well down to all at the club for getting this over the line, sounds like there was a minor stampede for his signature.
Welcome Mason.
How can people be so negative before he has kicked a ball for us? I do like the approach of picking players with potential and not the has-beens that some people seem to prefer.
The pieces are coming together. We will not know how good we are until after the first few games but the recruitment so far has been fine.
Looks like a player who we can develop. Welcome young man.
Heās contracted to the club isnāt he?
It canāt be out of their hands entirely if this is the caseā¦
Pretty sure Devlin and Leahy were signed from the Scottish Championship. I know their time with us wasnāt the best of periods, but theyāve gone on to forge a decent career for themselves. Devlin is a full Scottish international now and starter for Aberdeen on the SPL.
Happy that the club seem to be following some sort of model/plan with the new signings, seem to have been monitoring and tracking them and they donāt seem like reactive signings. Time will tell, but welcome Mason!
Welcome Mason - hope you can bring your shithouse style to a team that needs some of that..
If the players wants to quadruple his wages and play at an higher level, then theres very little they can do other than let his contract run out and get diddly squat for him next season. Plus an unhappy player going into the season.
Yes I got that he talks English .be it with a little southern accent.
