Is it just me that thinks of the scene from After Life when they’re at the pub and the Cockney geezers reel off a load of really inappropriate nicknames for one of the lads? It is pretty funny but a reference to Spearmint Rhino is probably the only one that will get past the swear filter.
But that doesn’t mean its out of the clubs hands - it just means the options could be time limited..
I appreciate fully that agents muddy the waters with their clients/players and this could well be a factor moving forward too but that said, I also feel that he’s a quality person and it wont be lost on him how well the club has supported him through the difficulties with his fathers situation and subsequent sad passing…
Personally, I’d love him to stay for another season…
I’d much rather get a 400k for him than lose him for nothing.
I get the sentiment and agree as a fan, but our model of buying young and selling for a profit means that we’re a selling club now (we always were).
The model means that we’ll try to drive the price up, but ultimately the aim will be to sell him for as much money as possible.
But only if other teams match the valuation/release clause of the player, which has only happend once? Hutchinson?
Bonser would have flogged Allen to the first bidder and replace him with a 34 year old.
Atleast we now seem to spend more money on transfer fees
I think Taylor Allen owes us and MS another season, his career as been resurrected and for all MS faults he’s played a huge part in that.
Hopefully a new 2/3 year is signed with a decent buy out clause in his contract, obviously he’ll have his agent in his ear but Walsall should make him captain and give the lad a fair wage, if he refuses and goes I’ll be disappointed if I’m honest.
The fans have really taken to him mostly because of his displays and he’s local, let’s hope the club is fair with him with a new deal.
Mason Hancock will go one way or another, you can sense he’s desperate to push on and forge a good career out the EFL, obviously ability will have a say in that, good to hear we’ve been chasing him since December and it doesn’t sound like a panic signing, I wish the lad well and hope he proves the doubters wrong.
We were chasing Amanchi.
almost every club is a selling club tbf in a way .
At least now we are trying to recruit players with potential for sell on fees on longer term deals .
i’m happy with that as long as we get some seasoned pros who have the now how to help them out else we will continue to be also rans and not genuine contenders to get out this league
Welcome to WFC Mason. Hope you push on in your career and help in pushing WFC into League 1.
As an aside; does the club have only one microphone?
Not going to get it right all the time, one thing he does offer is that he’s willing to try and gives effort, he also seems to find himself in the right places, I’ll reserve judgement until he’s had a preseason with us.
One for another thread but… if he could finish, then he would have been a great signing. But then they do say something about my Aunt being my Uncle - Maybe a loan move to Drogheda would be good - for Levi not my Aunt.
That’s the problem with this data model approach though. You can look good overall but lack in one key area like Levi.
Well, why don’t we pay the premium for a change! We’ve got rid of DJ and DD - probably our two top earners and made a few bob from the playoffs - it’s time to speculate to accumulate!!
I’d rather offer him £250k for next season and the one after, win promotion and then either pay him some more to keep improving and be part of something progressive or if he’d rather aged 26, sell him for £650k. That’s what an ambitious club would do.
If any club can afford to “quadrouple his wages” they must have a bit of spare and a huge motivation to sign him, in which case they can pay us what we want or go away.
Absolutely.
With one year left though, the valuation will be lower I’d think.
On the Taylor Allen subject, I’d be seeing if we could put a package together where he signs a contract with a FAIR buyout clause included. Where he gets a pay rise for now and then January say he moves on, also safe guarding us with a more reflective price of his worth. Hopefully something can get done
I think if Ben Sadler and Trivela aren’t already doing this, then they’re asleep at the wheel.
Would he sign it though? I wouldn’t if I wasn’t a hardcore fan of the club I played for.
By agreeing a buyout at a higher level than you’d currently sell for, all you’re doing is increasing the deal cost for the buying club, which will squeeze your wages down.
I think we have to be reaslistic, very unlikely Taylor Allen is starting with Walsall next season. It would take a very lucrative contract to have a chance, and Walsall just aren’t doing that.
As good as Taylor Allen is, I’d rather splash some serious wages on a striker. I don’t see us doing that either.
We’ve already got a replacement for Allen in Mason Hancock & Harrison Burke, he’s got a cultured left foot,he can play center half, left wing back or left side of midfield. He’s definitely got goals in him so I agree, don’t offer Allen a big pay rise, sell him and break the bank to bring in an out and out striker, because I don’t want another season watching Jamma get old.
We have signed three completely unproven players and a youth team goalie who was already here.
They are all absolute fingers crossed signings. Seems to be the policy.
