You and supporters like you represent a minority of the fan base. Lets call it 3k? And should we decline further into non-league (which looks more like traditional division 4 these days) then you and fans like you will remain.
We need more, more consistently and more passionately and that can only happen against the tide of lethargy and lack of ambition from at time the players, the club and the undecided floating fan base.
How many times have I read the match thread and seen an passionate over reaction to a performance or someone thankfull they dont have a season ticket or wont come again…
Its all very Betaris Box but for football. And all very typical of many other clubs although there are outliers and wierdly supported clubs.
I think we are too divided to succeed. Players, managers, owners, boardroom, fans.
Have to say I’ve noticed there seems a lot less patience amongst the fanbase already this season maybe its most didnt want Sadler or maybe its the dross thats been served up for the past 5 or 6 years or a combination of both?
Football structure at this club has been the problem for some time.
Since JW left the injury and strength and conditioning situation hasnt been
Great. We associate this with “bad luck” when it’s attributable (in part) to other factors.
The lack of homework that’s gone In to staff, managers and signings continues.
There are some who don’t want to point the finger at Trivella because they’ve brought the freehold and are opening the Saddlers Club.
It started off well with flynn here and at Newport’. We played some good stuff at times ( Wycombe away comes to mind) but it all comes crashing down and resorts to negative football when things start going wrong just like it did at Newport. Yesterday they was sitting back and let us have the ball ( typical flynn) and we didn’t make the right changes or play the right system to punish them and that falls on the in game management from Sadler and his staff. give it time Swindon fans will turn against flynn style of play when it inevitably gets more negative over time
The main problem at Walsall is that we have been so bad for so long, a percentage of the fanbase have been indoctrinated into believing poor or average business and standards are absolutely amazing. Crap has been accepted throughout the organisation year after year - on the pitch, in the board room, in marketing, in retail - it should be on the badge.
To come on here recently and see posters using a scraped 1-0 victory against probable relegation fodder Colchester in the basement Division as a reason to have a pop at any ‘negative’ fans - and now read how mid table in League 2 is about as much as we should hope for or readily accept after a loss at Swindon - made me realise that the mismanagement of this club has finally drained any standards, expectations or accountability.
The new dawn story or the new manager in the dugout every season, simply allows excuses and the board know this only too well. Give them time! Everyone needs time! Meanwhile, the list of clubs that manage to turn it around in one pre-season grows ever longer as do our ex managers that go on to do well elsewhere.
Agreed. Why we’re trying to stick to a wingback system when we don’t have any wingbacks is beyond me, especially as we’ve proved we play better with 4 at the back
Takes years though and we have no patience according to some i think the fans have been very patient in the last few seasons but you can see its starting to wear thin quickly now
Clarke leaving was his own decision. If we’d given Taylor more time there is every chance we’d be in the National League or worse now.
As much as I wanted it to work for Flynn, I don’t know what else you are meant to do when you only win 1 game in half a season playing some of the worst football I have ever seen.
It’s okay saying stick with managers but it would help if one of them made a decent fist of things or at least didn’t try their best to break club records and not good ones.
If Sadler keeps ticking along as we are and we keep up our good home form he will still be here next season.
Everyone said let’s look at the situation after 10 games by which time we will have had 5 home games and 5 away games.
My feeling is that the quality of the games is much higher this year than for some time, better football being played but what surprised me about yesterday was how Swindon played under Flynn. With Walsall, he did bring players in but there was no style to our play, even when we were doing relatively well - it was quite attritional, which is what the Newport fans said too. Swindon played with some flair - in fact, we did well to blunt their threat for much of the game - but I can only think it was because he inherited a decent squad.
Will probably do a similar job to Clarke at the Vale.
They’ve signed well on loan really with that Kemp guy and Young from Bradford. Charlie Austin is their DJ upfront so he has far better in final third than what he had here so that’s always half the battle won as a manager if you have 2-3 good forward options as he can obviously organise a defence fine.
Clarke left because the rug was pulled and he fell out with LP.
Taylor had to deal with a terrible bully of a DoF, who signed a squad full of crap (Ash Taylor, Labadie, Ward, Mills), and had to deal with Monthe being banned, and then the desperation signing of an injured forward.
