Morecambe (H) - League 2 - Sat 10th August, 3pm

Agree.
McEntee does the basic things very well. Of course we will face better attacking threats than we did today, but I think that back 3 is very good indeed.

Doesn’t it? It is only handball if he has left the penalty area. I would argue that if his feet are behind the line he hasn’t left the box. Perhaps a referee can clear this up!

I was directly on the line of the box and he was definitely in it. Simkin also let the ball fall into his body, he didn’t reach out and grab it.

Remember that even if 1mm of the ball is on the line of the penalty area, the goalkeeper is allowed to handle it.

He also times his tackles so well. If you watch sometimes it looks like he’s diving in, but actually the slightest touch from the attacker that isn’t perfect and he’s in. I think he missed one tackle all day and it was when the player was running down a blind alley just to avoid him.

I had concerns about Daniels towards the end of last season, to be honest I’m not sure he gets into this three, which isn’t a knock on him it’s a compliment to the current players with the shirt.

Farq as well, who looked a lot leaner and fitter than he did at the end of last season and was a bit sharper than he’s looked in preseason. I’ve always thought he’s an excellent player when playing against us I hope we see more of that this season.

I wasn’t saying it was out, just that he wasn’t sure himself for a moment! Impossible to say one way or another from behind the goal in the lower. I’ll take your word for it as you saw it from a better angle.

Hopefully you will have many more :tumbler_glass::+1:

He was fortunate but made the right decision in the end.

As regulars will know, I’m a big defender of Josh. Today I thought he was very good first half, but it was though he wasn’t on the pitch second half. Not even headless chickening.
Not sure if it was because he lost his mate up front, or, after reading earlier posts, he was suffering from a virus.
As one or two commented, we were struggling after 65 minutes, but did see the game out well, helped by an opposition that cpuldmt score in a brothel.

We lost all sense of forward shape once Matt went off. Albert seemed to play anywhere he wanted to.

Josh had a great opportunity to set up Simkin (?) first half but completely overhit the cross.

That would have been some assist to be fair

Tap him and told him off.

Wasn’t even his seat.

One statistic I have not seen before was the number of touches in the penalty box. In the first half Morecambe had zero, which is pretty astonishing. Over the whole game, they did not have a shot on target.

The point about illness in the camp struck me as likely. Barrett certainly looked ill rather than injured when he came off. The Morecambe players also seemed to be cramping up - hot day, long grass, perhaps.

Barrett was involved in a challenge a few minutes before he came off. Both players felt the impact.

Love this :heart::soccer::heart:

Morecambe may well be this years Sutton or FGR. Two teams we failed to beat last season. They were clueless going forward. Part of this is down to our defence. When I see a poor team I’m always trying to figure out if it’s because they’re playing against someone good! In this instance I do think it was mostly on Morecambe but let’s not take anything away from our back 3 and particularly Taylor Allen.

I will say I think they were defensively well drilled. Derek has made them hard to beat and Morecambe’s tactics will be to frustrate the opposition and do a smash and grab.

The effort from us was top draw. All definitely playing for the shirt and Matt Sadler. We’re a hard working likely mid table team who need a cutting edge. Get a good striker and maybe playmaker and I see us top 7. Really good to be back at the Bescot and after all the doom and gloom great to see a decent gate and atmosphere.

I’d like to see more of Adomah. Great pair of feat and Uncle Albert can run as fast as some of the kids on today’s evidence. Could be a gem for us.

I said this to my mate leaving the ground, I don’t think Adomah will be solely RWB cover, I can see him having a much larger impact, had so much control over the game and at times when he came deeper created acres of space.

Between him and JJ, who btw has only come from part time football less than 12 months ago, looks very strong and fit, easily a league 2 level player. Issac who?

It’s a shame we had to change Matt for Aldert, thought he needed Matt to capitalize on his crosse’s has there wasn’t anyone up top who was tall enough.
