Morecambe (H) - League 2 - Sat 10th August, 3pm

A win is a win which ultimately is all that matters.
In fairness Morecambe were abysmal. I don’t think I’ve seen a worse team in many years than Morecambe.
Jellis was excellent in the first half and looks to be a decent player.
Lakin showed a few nice touches and Flash offered some decent touches and ran himself into the ground.
Albert was so lucky to not walk after that moment when he flew in.

I think the referee had pity on the old guy…perhaps been taught to respect his elders :grinning:

What’s the betting we are today in the position we will finish the season?
For me, a win’s a win and onwards and upwards.
Very positive vibes for the first half; more like that and my “prediction” above will be seen as pessimistic.

I don’t think that’s too far off.

Stirk MOM for me , ran the midfield

Bloody hell. I have just woke up with sunburn. Face is like a tomato. Think i have just re-learned why i usually go upstairs.

Pleased with the three points but Morecambe really were shocking.

Im knackered just watching Jellis. Gave his all today and more. He was a non stop power house and should do well at this level. Hopefully he can add a bit of finesse as he develops.

My man of the match was the superb Taylor Allen. He is a proper baller. Great touch, composed and will forge a career at a higher level.

Stirky also did ok and showed composure when needed.

Lakin was a bit anonymous today but hopefully more to come from him and Barrett looked gassed after 55 minutes but that may be the mysterious virus.

Off the pitch i had a great time in The Railway. I popped into the Locker for the first time too but dont think i will be returning. The NoFo Cowboy was nice but expensive but overall it felt very sterile.

Were there any programmes on sale? I always get mine off the bloke on the corner by the Undercroft but couodnt find any sellers today. That annoyed me.

So overall a great day out, had a laugh and a few bevvies, had a curry and now my face is falling off.

Happy New Season all.

I for one was struggling to hold it together through this.
Credit to the Saddlers family how this played out.
God bless him.

It will be interesting to read what the doom- mongers think. We know what we’re lacking, but a win to start is good.

Couldn’t agree more mate the only problem with the game today was it took 90 mins to get to the best thing about it 3 points won .if you compare that to the chesterfield v Swindon game Friday ,well I’ll say no more .early days I suppose.

I’m not sure if anyone else thought this, but I thought the goal was very fitting on a day we remembered Craig Shakespeare. The kind of low left foot thunderbolt we often saw from him.

We did what we had to do today, simply beat what was put in front of us. Refreshingly in the first half, we looked more like a back 3 than a back 5 with both wing backs pushing high up the pitch. Barrett and Jellis looked like a really good pairing down the right and think they’ll be a real plus this season. You wouldn’t have looked at Jellis and thought that it was his first league start

Second half we reverted to type a little bit with the wing backs not being as adventurous. There were a couple of times that Stirk had plenty of time to play a ball out wide into space but they were behind the play. With word of a virus spreading through the camp you can see why we tailed off. Part of the reason too was a lack of a target man to hold the ball up and get us up the pitch. Matt did a really good job in the first half, but it heightens the need for reinforcements.

It’s probably not a fair barometer to judge given the opposition but the three at the back were superb, giving nothing away and trying to play forward where possible. Taylor Allen has got a real chance to make that position his own and a pray that Sadler doesn’t draft Daniels straight back in when fit if he keeps this form up

MOTM for me though was Stirk and on that showing, I’d prefer him in the side of Comley. He did the dirty work just as well but is far more progressive with his passing

There will be sterner tests, no doubt, but credit to the team for getting over the line in first gear

I asked and there are now no programme sellers around the ground. You have to get one, card only payment, at a bar, the ticket office, club shop or The Locker.
And it’s gone from 80 pages to 48 pages but still selling at an exorbitant £4. Sadly they know there are idiots like me who will buy regardless.

It’s on there now, but says you have to subscribe to watch

47 points to safety is probably the only target this team under Sadler should be aiming for. No change from last season, terrible anti football with utterly useless forwards and the club has no excuse for not signing one instead giving us some drivel about loan players parent clubs.
I don’t blame the players who presumably are carrying out Sadlers utter crap tactics, they gave us their best efforts, the limitations of each is there for all to see.
MOM Taylor Allen
SADLER OUT :arrow_right: PERIOD

From what I’ve been told, he is likely to be utilised in several positions.

From where I was sat in the middle tier it looked as if Simkin may have had part of his body outside the box, but the ball was well inside, so not handball.

Ball was inside the box, wasn’t any issue there.

Thank you for the info :+1:

Up early Al, no head ache from yesterday then😁
