Morecambe (H) - League 2 - Sat 10th August, 3pm

It’s A forum I’m allowed to ask questions and I asked the poster who has looking into Morecambes friendlies if he thinks there strikers look more effective than ours , a fair comment based on both teams negativity going into the game
I’m too busy with work and kids to go around looking for stats all day and so look at forums where others have done the work like nearly everyone does
I await your in-depth statistically backed reply

Morecambe have a whole new forward line. We dont know much about them beyond KC’s stats which show a much poorer record than both Gordon and Matt.

Still dont let that stop you putting down the team you purport to support.

I was surprised to see that our strikers last year contributed 31 league goals in their various contributions. Draper offered 10 and the rest were shared around. Midfield came up with 25 and there was a dozen from the back 3.

I’d say the place that did not pull its weight goal-wise was wing-back. I have included them in the midfield figure but Knowles and Foulkes did not score and Gordon got just a couple.

Slews 8 last year is more than Matt and Gordon combined but yeah sure there strikers are worse . That’s from crods stats you harper for me to read
I can support the club however I want Aswell thank you very much . my money and time is as good as yours .
it’s on the club to entertain me , I’m the consumer and I’m allowed to be frustrated by the goods on offer for the price I’ve paid

In the national league for Halifax. Sure youd be chuffed if wed signed him

Consumer. :joy: Why dont you report them to watchdog.

Slew scored 8 last for Morecambe In League 2 but you’d know that if you read king crods post on the statistics of the Morecambe strikers last year which I presume you didn’t .

Would you like me to tag you In his post so you can read it rather than just moaning on a forum or you could research yourself and contribute more effectively ?

My mistake. Id missed that he played in February too,

See how we learn together when we actually discuss the opposition rather than just regurgitate the same criticisms all the time.

Perhaps you can comprehend how Matt and Gordon contribute more to the team than just scoring goals while we are at it.

I state many times that I don’t think either truly contribute outside of goals but that is always going to be opinion
Like maybe the Morecambe strikers contribute more than just goals which is why I asked the poster about there strike force

I believe Gordon’s workrate is in the wrong areas of the pitch especially when he drags himself wide , ineffective as a lot of players at the level are cape-able of beating a press usually just by Gordon himself and his assist tally is also low as he isn’t great at winning aerial balls , poor Vision , awful movement when creating space for himself And terrible technique
Matt for me is way to slow, wins the ball to deep and hasn’t the pace to get back into position for the cross or through ball . He doesn’t outmuscle defenders all the time as most defenders at this level are over 6’ physical animals themself . His weight of pass is poor and for a big man isn’t the best aerially whocb he himself has stated as he doesn’t see himself as a target man.
Tbf to Matt though we do play him as a target man rather a striker so rather than whipping balls into him from outside when he is in the box we lump it to him from deep and usually rather central which is on the wingbacks , the lack of faith in keeping possession And playing the ball wide and sadlers tactics
That’s my two pence but I’m not a manager or scout just a fan who doesn’t rate them but I am awful at comparing players to significantly more effective players like comparing Bradshaw to Gordon which is unfair as they play at different levels and that’s on me

Hes only in the box from corners and set pieces cause everyone else has stopped. I hope the guy shuts me up on Saturday but he really is more of a hindrance to us than anything positive he may offer. He physically cannot get himself into the box half the time

It appears some of the clappers are getting a bit twitchy and tetchy :rofl::rofl:

I’ll be watching this from afar in sunny Madeira, I’ll have a few bottles of Coral at the ready to drown my sorrows. I can’t see where the goals are going to come from, 0-1.

Totally agree it’s why I hate a Matt Gordon partnership
Matt is nowhere near the box as he is to slow to be involved in build up play and Gordon’s headless chicken antics means his usually out wide away from the actual goal itself
Neither want to be in the box and poaching a goal like dj would

Are you a mod now? I saw yesterday you telling someone what they should or shouldn’t post.

People are free to post what they want within the rules aren’t they? Even if it is nonsense (in your opinion)

I’m not being funny but I’m not sure if you are part troll/parody account at times, a bit like King Crod whose post you used to make your point. Hard to know when to take posts like that seriously or not.

Sorry, I’m sure we all want to read another post about Gordon and Matt for the zillionth time and how underprepared Walsall are even when the opposition they are facing are even more underprepared

Totally agree there Blazing. Well said

I am glad we are using a club like Morcambe as a benchmark. We may do alright if that’s the case.

For the morecambe match thread i think they’re the best benchmark to use. Who do you propose instead?

Maher suspended, earing injured, comley injured, daniels injured, dj not match fit…
Gordon and Matt upfront… 3 nil win!
