Need to be careful we don’t get complacent though.
Not beyond all thought that we could have a bad run like Port Vale have experienced and then get caught. Obviously I hope not, and the signs are that we have the right attitude to fight until the end of every game, but at some point we may well lose a couple or not win for a few games and then the gap to some others teams narrows.
What is it, 52 points now. Basically another 8 wins pretty much gets top 3 as with a couple of draws that gets you to 80 points and I can’t see endless teams below all going on Donny type runs from last season.
At the halfway point there’s a whole clutch of teams on 38-39 points so that suggests 76-78 points could be enough with the far superior GD although obviously wouldn’t want things to come down to that for the heart rate!
Lowe going back won’t mean the backline will collapse and start shipping in 3 or 4 on a regular basis so would be more edging games 1-0 with one of the midfielders or Matt/DJ scoring. Imagine thinking in August the team could go to Notts County and win without any of Daniels, Allen or McEntee starting, that shows the ridiculous strength in depth there now.
However it’s important Trivela show at some point in next six months the ambition next season is to do more than just want to finish 20th in league one next season so a Draper/Faal type signed on a three deal for a fee would do very nicely indeed.
Yeah - okay. I get what you mean.
Send them a video ffs
VHS in the post to Stoke on Trent.
I agree on all that. Just don’t want us to get squeaky bum time!!
The longer we can keep the decent points gap the better, and the sooner we secure promotion / the title the better too, as I can’t make Crewe on the last game of the season so selfishly would like an earlier promotion / title-winning party!!
Cook could potentially be out for the rest of the season
Well I hope he is out against us this month
I was watching Sky too, but the presenter said Mark Robins should look at him, not that he was going back. But who knows what will happen.
Oh dear
It’s a big jump in quality from League 2 watched West brom the other day on sky they move the ball much quicker at that level than in League 2 and the players look faster and more athletic.
Lowe has been brilliant but he’s still 19 and raw in some aspects of his game his first touch sometimes isn’t the best and his decision making but like I said he’s still a kid that will come but he has a Natural ability to score goals that you don’t see very often at Walsall can only think of Kyle Lighbourne and David Kelly in my time who can compete with him.
Trophy gets lifted at final home game if a team wraps it up before then.
I began following the club in early 2008 so never actually experienced a trophy parade or anything, I presume they’d put on in Walsall Town Centre which would be cool to go to.
Guess that means they’ll step up interest in Michael Mellon as that was a rumoured link.
Bradshaw was really good on one on ones when he was here. He had a solid career at championship level without ever really threatening to get prem sides after him. Only a few caps for Wales aswell in the end.
It wasn’t that impressive in the town. Bus through empty(ish) streets, wasn’t a balcony - just this kind of platform. Sound wasn’t great. Couldn’t see much. The Graydon Oldham game style one is the best to experience !
I do agree with your post. I think we would get over the line without Lowe now. We don’t need that much in terms of points as you outlined. The team is still going to be solid.
There is no denying that Lowe is often the difference though when games are tight. It would be a shame, because we are smashing it if Lowe stays.
Also, something I haven’t seen mentioned is the psychological side of it. I think this happened when DJ went back before. We stopped believing we could score or win. Obviously losing the player that scored most the goals was the main factor, but I do believe it was such a blow we never got over it.
We must surely finish the job off now though. It would be the biggest heartbreak of all time if this team doesn’t get promoted from this position.
The trophy presentation for our last League 2 title win was in a hut/tailer thing outside the Council House - it felt a bit of a let down.
I recall the runners up trophy in 1998/99 being in the stands as fans were on the pitch.
Did anyone else pick up on Nathan Lowe’s body language at the end of yesterday’s game? On the highlights when a lot of the players were jumping around and high fiving, Nathan just stood and stared at the crowd. He then turned to walk to the dressing rooms, and shook his head a few times.
Now I’m no psychologist, and I know he rarely seems excited, but that bothered me.
Has he already spoken to Mark Robins about going back do we think? Would he want to at this stage?
It would be a tough decision for him, but does he have a choice?
Could derail our season from our perspective, but Stoke City will have the final say.
I did see him standing just looking but I took that as standing in awe at the scenes in front of him and the adulation coming from the crowd and the head shakes as oh wow
