Nathan Lowe signs (Aug 2024)

I thought that. It was one of the more ‘animated’ goal celebrations from a Walsall crowd.

Maybe you’re right - certainly hope so!
Anyway, I hate transfer window time, when loanees can be recalled and we have no control.
Roll on the end of the month!!

Losing Lowe would be very hard to take but I think it would hurt him more than it does WFC. He’s part of a brilliant squad, got fans that adore him and is odds on to walk away with the L2 golden boot and a champions medal.

Or he could go back to Stoke, sit in their bench in a relegation battle. Plus he would have the weight of expectation on him to score when he gets pitch time. Look what has happened to Draper !

I’m desperate for him to stat but if Bobbins wants to further ‘endear’ himself to the Walsall faithful I trust in MS to have a suitable plan B ready to roll.

If he does go back you just hope it’s not left until the 11th hour , mind if he was going back at the end of the month we still could be well clear

Think we will be ok but the lad deserves to see this through.

I’m more concerned for him and the impact it would have on him than us.

Yes, I did and I mentioned it to my son. It seemed to me to be that he was going to miss this.

Thank you Locky, my thoughts exactly :clap:t2:

Not sure how reliable this is, but super promising if true!

The even better news about this (if true) is that it would imply that Stoke do not see him as part of their plans this season. It also implies that Stoke are giving him a large say in what happens with his career. Why would he want to leave this magical team

5 goals in 4 games. I recall Killer scoring in 5 successive games, but who has our record scoring streak?

I see it slightly differently. Nathan has no control over being recalled by Stoke, but he would have a major say in being sent out on loan to another club.
My guess is he prefers to stay with us, unless Stoke can offer him 1st team football at the Britannia Stadium. I still think Stoke will have him back, particularly if they lose their own striker who’s on loan.

Someone else said a few days ago he’d told Sjoke it was stay here, or play for them, but he wouldn’t go on loan elsewhere.

The girl in bloko Asda as confirmed all this to me this morning.

I don’t know, I would imagine Richards or Alsop, perhaps. I do know that Roy Faulkner scored in the first five games of 59-60, seven goals in all, having scored in each of the last two games the previous season. So nine in seven, notching in all of them.

The Buck did get fourteen goals in six home games in 75-76, and in one of the games he drew a blank.

I don’t see why Stoke would flog him - he oozes class. Even if Hudds offer £2m, they could double their money in 12 months (whilst also potentially switching positions with Stoke) - so why would Stoke sell him knowing that?

Personally I think there’s 3 possibilities:

  1. He stays with us
  2. He goes to another club on loan, who are willing to offer a fee + wages
  3. He goes back to Stoke to be part of their first team

My head says 3 is the most likely. Look at it from Stoke’s point of view - how much would they have to pay for Lowe if he wasn’t theirs and he was banging in goals in League 2? £1m? £1.5m? He’s a ready-made January signing, fit, in-form and raring to go. He’s also a similar style of forward to what Robins was, and has been heavily involved in their first-team before.

There’ll be teams enquiring about option 2, but he seems happy, Stoke can only be delighted with the form he’s showing, so I’d say this is the least likely.

January is a long month, and there’s a lot of water to go under the bridge - a lot will depend on Stoke’s form, and whether they lose any of their players.

Hopefully we are already looking at strengthening irrespective of what happens with Lowe. Clearly isn’t getting game time, nor is DJ, and we’ve lost Earing and Hall.

I get the feeling the Stoke plan is to give him league one experience NEXT season.

There’s no rush, he’s still a kid and Stoke will probably pick up form now with Robins in. They’re four clear of the bottom 3 and have Plymouth at home on Saturday which should be a win.

If he’s scoring plenty of goals in league one next season that’s when he’ll be recalled mid season I suspect.

Stoke have a young squad as it is. They’ll have the play off ambitions and I doubt Mr Robins will want to hang those hopes off a 19 year old.

Tezgel just as highly rated and he barely gets any minutes.

Hope I’m right!

Just a quick thought on the body language issue. Surely if he was leaving wouldn’t he be waving and thanking the fans?

I think he was thinking i’m going to miss this when we’re being bood off every week in Stoke.

As I said last week he doesn’t want to go elsewhere on loan.

I understand there is interest from Premier League teams but they would sign him for the future. He could move this month, but he would likely stay here on loan from elsewhere.
