New Fans Forum

Need to establish ourselves again in league 1 and grow the fan base at the same time before it’s even considered imo .

The attendance increase for most of those involved going out of the league.

Yes, I agree with you EN.
I think it’s also important that the club representatives come across as sincere and credible. They can’t solve all the individual grievances, but if they connect with the fans and listen to them, it’s a massive positive.
The previous lot couldn’t give a shit, whereas this lot seem to.

One can imagine a situation where a group of businessmen like Trivela might explore ways of maximising the use (and income) from the stadium site, in support of the football club.
You’d have to assume that such ideas would include increasing the stadium capacity, at some point.

I know for a fact that the club are trying to build the fan base especially among the Asian community. Which I think is great news .

By hiking prices again? The only thing that is questionable about Trivela at the moment is their stated aim to grow the crowd vs stating they are happy with lower season ticket sales because of the increased revenue. Both statements have been made and are contradictory

I mentioned those as most have traditionally been around our level and - happy to be corrected on this - but were getting circa 5,000 or so crowds in the league some years ago but seem to have grown this core to a regular 9k to 10k of home fans.

I do agree . And I didn’t like the comment at the last fans forum. When gamble said season tickets were slightly lower but the hike in prices made up for that !!!
Not great if your trying to build your fan base .

We are Walsall
We’re a lower league team
We are surrounded by villa wolves West Brom brum , we would have to hit premisership to even sell out the ground we have now bar a few rivals or someone like Leeds in the championship and even then it’s mainly away fans
Silly talk we ain’t never being a big club unless the spectacular happens

You can say what you like about building a good supporter base, but it comes down to one thing in the end, sustained success on the pitch. If we have good season and manage to get promoted either through the play-offs or a top three place, then that will be the beginning of building a decent fan base. That’s when Trivela will need to start investing in the club to keep the momentum going, Wrexham, Stockport and Mansfield are living proof that proper prolonged investment equals success and much bigger crowds.

What those 3 clubs have is multimillionaire owners who are ploughing their own money in and can absorb losses. With Radford it also took him 13 years to get promoted to League One.

I’m not saying put millions in, I’m saying that IF we somehow get promoted I don’t want to see Trivela saying that we couldn’t keep our best players because we couldn’t compete with other 1st division clubs.Keeping our best players is the only way we can even compete in the 1st division let alone continue progressing and not go straight back down.

I agree that the fan base will grow depending on results as well, but it doesn’t change the point that their actions, and words since originally stating their aim, are contradictory. Maybe the growth in attendance would be even larger if the results stay the same, and they weren’t happy to accept lower ticket sales because it is counteracted by the price increase.

I’d like to know the ins and outs of how Chesterfield, Stockport and Notts county have built and to a certain extent kept the fan base they have. I’m sure there must be special offers with ticket prices etc.

I imagine that is what The Ben’s are doing, along with looking at other clubs to see how they are doing it.
Probably a lot of good stuff going on

We might well have the expertise already at the club.
Ben Sadler’s time at Morecambe saw them more than doubling their attendances post pandemic.
That time included a promotion in the pandemic affected season.

Our figures for comparison.
