Newport County (H) Sunday 29 Dec, 3pm

Sour grapes indeed from the opposition dugout. We’ve gone 12 points clear by beating teams in lots of different ways. Doesn’t matter how Newport lost… they lost.

As I’ve said before, Sadler oozes intelligence compared to opposition managers. He has great tactical awareness and passes it on to the players.

Just read an Exile fan say roughly he same apparently according to Nelson Jardim there coach they were also the better team in the 5- 2 loss to Bromley.

It’s a load of rubbish.

It’s the whole ‘trust the process’ thing. They just want to keep players and fans on board with what they’re doing.

I know some people don’t like it as a metric but Newport created just 0.15 xG today (whilst we created 1.36) and only had 4 shots and 2 chances created (11 for us). Sounds like their manager is deluded if he thinks they deserved anything from that game.

That’s better Al.

I see your recent uncharacteristic optimism only lasted a couple of days🤣

Newport passed it around nicely and were easy on the eye without creating much, whereas we played effective football like we have all season.
Lowe would have to get MOTM but I thought Taylor and Stirk pushed him close. We all hope we can keep Lowe but if he goes he goes as unbelievable player who has helped us into a 12 point lead.

The togetherness in this squad is fantastic and it’s been built by Mr Sadler and his coaches.

Made me laugh @Locky.

Im also stressing about Mat changing his lucky jacket with the badge falling off. One should not play with the forces.

Goals.

We were definitely below par today which is understandable but somehow this team seems to have developed a knack of grinding out results from these positions.
We did pick up second half and managed yet another win with another clean sheet topped off by that second goal from Lowe which was stunning.
If someone had said to me that before the new year we would sit 12 points clear with a game in hand I’d have wondered what medication they were on.
I have no idea if Nathan Lowe will stay or return to Stoke but whatever happens he’s a very special player and it’s an absolute pleasure watching him.

Yes you are quite right, we are not at the finish line yet. However the pressure is on the chasing pack, if we beat Notts they know that pretty much leaves them fighting for second. This side have only lost 3 games all season and that would mean us losing 6 on the bounce for them to overhaul us. The teams below are so tightly packed they will be taking points off each other every week, I know we won’t go unbeaten for the rest of the season, but I can see us inching away from the herd even further in the next month.

Being a Walsall fan naturally predisposes you to be negative in your outlook, but just imagine if we keep Lowe and make some astute additions in Jan … we will be unstoppable.

Opposition managers just can’t seem to work out how to deal with us, hence they’re starting to get stroppy.

Another great win, not a particularly good performance, definitely looked leggy, but still managed to back the 3 points.

We just need to keep our heads now, because it won’t take much for us to secure automatic promotion. 10 wins will do it, 8 or 9 might. The trailing pack are so far behind that 3 of them have to win 4 more than we do to overtake us.

The only thing that can derail us now is a Bonser style January.

Off the charts in a few games

Perhaps if the Newport Head Coach hadn’t just set his team up to deal with our only threats of set plays and long balls, then he would have achieved a goalless draw. Unfortunately he failed to address the possibility that we might just do a bit of shorter passing and play with a bit of width.

Sadler said in an earlier interview that he was looking to strengthen the squad. Cleary may go back and if so he will be looking for a forward who can come in and have an impact. He may also look to bolster midfield as the work expected of Jellis, Lakin and Stirk will take its toll as I thought it did today. Thought it was a nice touch to play “Nothings gonna stop us now” at the end. Bit of a nod to the Graydon era and the togetherness we had then. Would like to see Weir and maybe Browne getting some game time to give others a break.

He comes across well, he will be liked everywhere he goes

A very well spoken young man and very modest. His parents have done a great job and must be very proud.

Almost 10 minutes from someone who has watched a completely different game.

Yes they looked good, looked composed until they go within 25 yards of our goal and then they had nothing.

Sadler gives praise where praise is due but some of these other managers just have a little cry and think they are unlucky.
