Newport County (H) Tue 20th Aug, 7.45pm

Worth remembering Bradford have also had a slow start to the season and they certainly shouldn’t be in this league given they were annually in contention for league one play offs last 5 years. Scunny aswell haven’t won a game yet and on paper they appointed a better manager than DC but he seems to be struggling to impose his ideas on them.

Plymouth done well (although lost at the weekend to Newport) mainly due to exploting Bury financial implosion and getting in their manager and four of their promotion winning 11, in normal circumstances that wouldn’t have happened and they’d have been left signing Joe Edwards and hoping for the best.

There is always a hangover after relegation. Team coming down will have lost 20 + games so losing mentality is in squad, said squad is then replaced and takes time for some of the new players to get going.

Would expect once new signings are made for team to be in contention for a play off place. Not sure about top 3 as likes of Bradford and Mansfield will string some good runs together at some stage.

What ever happens on the pitch tonight (and all games to be honest) I hope we just keep behind the team and make more noise than we ever have at the Banks’s , and let the team and club know we are behind them 100% and I’m sure it will have the desired effect on the performances.
The last thing we want is the fans turning on them again.
I know we all want the good times right now but let’s be patient and give the whole club a chance to move forward like we’ve all be crying out for for how many years , let’s not blow it already …UTS

From what I have seen he still gets into our team.

nope nope and nope

Whys that?

Walsall 0 - 1 Newport.

I think most clubs would say they could do with another goalscorer, so we’re not unique in that respect. That’s why emphasis was placed on goals coming from elsewhere on the pitch. A part of this will be down to confidence; the confidence to make that run from midfield, or come up for a corner. That’s where supporters can make a difference.

Losing is itself not a positive thing, but a positive which may be inferred is that our losses are not (yet) total capitulations. That’s when to start worrying.

I’ve got a feeling Newport will just edge us tonight on streetwisdom, but it’ll put us nicely into a party-pooping mood for Devon! :smiling_imp:

They’ve got a good front two in Armond and Jamil Matt so back 3 will be tested, a clean sheet would be good effort.

Also got Micky Demetriou still at the back although he went off after 20 minutes on Saturday so guess he’s an injury doubt.

Agree he gets in easy.

Legs gone, wouldnt start him over kinsella or sinclair, and id personally start hardy as our creative spark in midfield. leaves no room for edwards

Hmm maybe not the player he was but with the system we play we are crying out for a solid midfielder that can also get up the pitch and effect play in their box.

I certainly wouldn’t say he’s a worse player than Kinsella or Sinclair based on what I’ve seen.

Edwards knew how to grab a goal, our current midfield can’t muster a shot between them.

But maybe that’s juts a selection thing as I do like Kinsella and Sinclair.

Early “worm” more like in Chunkster’s case. :joy:

Adeybayo needs to start tonight… He hasn’t really looked like scoring but his physical presence alone keeps defenders on the back foot. And he does win his fair share of headers as he should do the size of the bloke.

Yeah I like them too, I’m not saying they are bad players. I just think Edwards offered something I haven’t seen from them.

Maybe they can. Kinsella has been challenged to get forward more often apparently and I haven’t seen enough of Sinclair to say he can’t do that so fingers crossed.

Upbeat about tonight.

I think it will be 2-1 to the Saddlers, with our Canadian and Stuart “Prosinecki” Sinclair on target.

Attendance of 3,987 with 285 from Newport.

Goalless draw probably. Maybe Lavery will score, but sooner it will be defender after set-piece situation.

4 nill to Walsall with Newport having 2 sent off in the first 10 mins, we hit the post four times and the cross bar twice and miss three spot kicks with 3865 in attendance 48 from Newport
