100%, keeping a run going will have a major positive effect on the boys, something they will want to guard and take pride in. This team is something else, more of a family than a team (a happy, united family I hasten to add)
Romaine scored for Wimbledon tonight. They’re coming on strong.
I think Romaine only signed for them up to the end of January so he may not be around when we play them in March.
I don’t think he’s one for us with the way this team plays but I’d love to see him grace the Bescot one more time. One of the most gifted players I ever saw for us. Albion ruined him by shackling him in that very deep lying role. Such a shame.
Anyway, back on topic - Wimbledon look very dangerous and I agree with others in that I’d be surprised if Bromley don’t make play-offs. They so nearly did a job on us.
I really hope we can maintain a health gap over the chasing teams, as this looks like it will be a proper dog fight in the last 10 games
Hope so too.
We just need to keep piling up the points and hope the chasing pack keep dropping points and taking them off each other. Should have the bonus of lowering the threshold for automatic promotion too.
Don’t you start…!
80 Points is often enough for 3rd spot, and the way it is this season, as you suggested the chasing pack will all be taking points off each other. Sure some will fall away and some will go on a run but you would imagine that it will be a help to keeping the final total needed down.
28 points from 23 games, just how bad would we have to become to not do this now? I’m sure there will be a bit of a bump, but I really do trust Sadler and this group of players to finish this job.
8 wins, 4 draws, 11 losses.
It would be the biggest bottlejob ever if we didn’t do it.
Might be the tirdness speaking but we will break the 100 point barrier. Normally our season is over by end of march and it will be again this year but only because we wrapped up the title and the remaining games just one big party atmosphere. Lowe will breach the 30 goal barrier.
Stirk is a text book Walsall Fc signing.
I know he has his critics and he is by no means the finished article.
But released from a local club / local lad
Young player
Has taken time to settle
We try to hone in and play to his strengths
Finds a consistency in performance / selection
Provides us with a platform where he may command a fee.
True but Saddler don’t go in on our disallowed goal, and what was a stone wall penalty on Jamma.
But ye like Notts as a club, they seem a decent honest bunch.
Not sure about that. It looked like Jamma went down too easily. If that had been given against us we’d have been gutted.
No5 should also of been sent off for a 2nd yellow, think he pulled Jamma down when we was on the break.
Few bad decisions either way.
I agree that Jamma should have had a penalty but not from the McEntee disallowed goal.
There was another goal mouth scramble and he was on the ground about to hook it in when he was hauled back.
Throughout the second half, he and their no.5 were ‘at it’ and it was this that gave a bit more room for Lowe.
I don’t know whether it has been mentioned already but McGoldrick was drifting wide and cutting in to get shots off with his right from the edge of the box. Sadler’s solution? Play Taylor Allen (a left footer) at right back to see out the game in the final few minutes. This turned out to be an inspired move, especially since Connor was on a yellow for an act of petulance in the first half, chopping down the impish Austin.
Sadler, Waddock and Byfield all deserve credit for this tactical success.
The problem is that players wrestle, pull, push block and dig each other in the ribs. You either allow the (let’s call it rough and tumble) or you penalise every incident with a penalty. I’m of the opinion that unless it is totally blatant it’s got to be allowed as part of the game.
We could do enough to get promoted in the 11 home games let alone getting anything from the 12 away. Need to keep it fort bescot and really stay behind them at home because the home fans can get em promoted here.
How has that integrated the game years ago you couldn’t touch anyone.
Because every club from the top of the premier League down do it. I can imagine the top premier League clubs have had their say with the referees association and made it clear that it’s part of the game. It’s not nice to watch but all you need is a defender or striker to grab each other and it becomes a free for all.
God ye, but we was on the break and it stopped the attack.
Basically a professional foul and a big risk, which he got away with.
I was referring to the action that takes part in the area mainly but I’m sure the leniency the referees show in the box also impacts outside the box too.
