Notts County (H) Tue December 3rd 7.45pm

Feels bigger than it probably is.

I can’t make this one and have no way of watching it so I have the old dilemma of either a nervous ninety or just going gonzo and taking the full hit at 9:45.

This run of games is a concern. We look a bit shot. I’d start Weir on the left and Adomah on the right tomorrow. I think we have to start with the same three centre backs - Dave and floodlights don’t seem to mix well. Stirk will have to start in Comley’s absence with Lakin and Earing in Jellis’s absence. Matt and Lowe up top.

Been slightly disappointed with Jack in these last two games. Following his injuries this felt like a season he’d push on. Being on the bench a huge frustration for him. But he’s had two starts and hasn’t struck me as somebody chomping on the bit to put a solid “drop me if you dare” marker down. If anything he’s just highlighted the gap in quality between himself and Jellis.

Anyway, 1-1 5,680 (1,200)

Lack of game time probably in Jack’s case.Thought he was better second half on Saturday but we need him at his best. I don’t think Weir has the pace to play LWB however he could play LCB allowing Allen to move to that position but I would leave Gordon in myself. I would give Barrett a rest and start with Adomah.

Perhaps you know this, but It’s on sky+

Agree there.

Personally I’d go:

Simkin

McEntee Williams Daniels

Adomah Stirk Lakin Gordon

Hall

Lowe Jamma

I would normally have Allen in there as LCB but it looks like he needs a break. I think county will have a lot of the ball, so we will be deep - do Daniels lack of pace less likely to be exposed. Otherwise I’d have Weir or Allen in.

Midfield… I don’t think Hall is a natural 8, seems to be more of a 10. So a slight tweak there. Don’t know who else but Adomah can play RWB.

I can’t understand why a 37 year old winger has been preferred to a striker with a decent goals to game ratio this season (DJ) so have excluded him based on that. Can’t see him starting.

DJ has, for example, 3 goals in just 242 minutes of action this season - whilst Jamma has 5 goals in 1274 minutes. Quite a big difference. I can’t explain the snub.

800 sold as of today.

At the risk of putting the cat amongst the pigeons…

I’d put McEntee in midfield as an 8, in the absence of Jellis and Comley.

It worked against them at a similar stage of the season, last year.

Yes. I’m out with work mate so unless there’s a boozer in Manchester that has chosen to air our game I’m buggered. Which is why the nervous ninety looking at the phone every three minutes would be equally fruitless and anti-social.

Might just go for goal alerts.

I would agree. Despite me frothing at the mouth about it last year lol

I do think that a fit McEntee is too good a footballer (and leader) to leave out. However, I think Dave and Williams have both earned their chance.

Taylor Allen gives balance, but I would consider playing him as a wing back in certain games, when Liam Gordon is injured or needs a rest.

McEntee is excellent at attacking the ball and from H’s long throws, he could be a real weapon in attacking situations.

We shall miss Jellis, but we have to use all of the tools at our disposal to keep chipping away and accumulating crucial points.

The next 10 games are very tough: I’d happily accept 5 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses to keep us in the hunt for the top seven.

Anyone else getting this trying to look for tickets and the map isn’t working.

Loaded on mine.

Plenty of seats available, quite disappointing

4,500 home fans tops I reckon.

Unlike with Hutch last season, the depth we have in the squad means we can cope when we lose a player or 2 with none being too key.

There is some truth in that but Jellis is so good, the work he does allows other players to do what they do. We have replacements but none that are at the same level he is, in my opinion anyway.

Not to say we can’t or won’t win while he is out.

I agree that he is top notch, and we do press a lot better when he’s in the team, but he was never going to play every minute of every game. We need to show we execute the plan without him.

Where about in Manchester? There are several around the centre with multiscreens so you might be able to persuade one of the bar staff to put our game on one. Utd and City both play on Wednesday so no clash there, and all the EPL games this week are on Amazon Prime rather than Sky or TNT anyway so they might not have a subscription to show those.

BTW I’ll be out in Manchester myself on Wednesday and Thursday as am up there for our work’s Christmas do.

We desperately need 3 points here going into Saturday. Personally I’d go full strength , adrenaline will kick in against Vale so need to worry about burn out.

2-1 win

I remember the years when Forest were our whipping boys. Time to transfer the title. We got this. 7-0 .

Be around Spinningfields.

Ape and Apple traditional kick off then probably down to the Oast House. Then any semblance of a plan starts going awol as there’s the inevitable 9 o’clock “we need food” lot up against the “eating’s cheating” lot.

For me, if I’m enjoying a curry in Akbar’s at around 10:30, eight or nine pints in, three points in me back pocket then it will have been a good night.
