Notts County (H) Tue December 3rd 7.45pm

Notts county will play football a way that suits us a lot better
They will have More of the ball and be less physical
We struggle against poorer football sides who with the physical battles and play long

Next two will be true markers, get min 4 points and we’ll be fine, less than 3 and we’re probably into sticky patch territory.

The same distance from the Ape & Apple as the Oast House, but in the opposite direction, is the Directors Box where they have loads of screens and regularly put different games on each. Unlike most sport bars they usually have at least 1 real ale/craft on too.

But if your mates insist on Spinningfields, then on your way to Akbars you could try the White Lion. It is a big United pub (they even put on canal boats from out the back to Old Trafford on match days) but as they don’t play until Wednesday, and it’s only Ipswich/Palace and Leicester/West Ham on Prime plus Huddersfield/Wigan on Sky tonight, you might be able to persuade them to put our game on their little screen?

Alternatively, if any of your group has a Sky Sports package subscription you can use the app to watch it on a mobile in any pub (and make use of their WiFi). That frees you up to go to Cask which is by far the best bar for a decent pint in that area - and only a few doors away from Akbars.

Maybe Adomah for Barrett, but would like to see us go as strong as possible for this one, really need the win.

Just had a quick look at our record against them at home, as had a feeling its a poor one - and it is!! For some reason we seem to do better at their place.

However, how’s this for an omen…the last three times we’ve beaten them at home in the league have all gone on to be promotion seasons, as was one of the previous 2 home wins against them. So 4 promotions the last 5 times we’ve beaten them at home in the league since 1988 (the only exception being in BFJ’s season). So two very rare things that seem to happen in the same season :eyes:

Assuming Jellis is out, I think I’d go with Hall over Earing. I don’t anticipate them to bring anything like the physicality of Bromley which clearly isn’t his sort of game. The extra quality he can bring us on the ball could be the difference tonight

Wouldn’t surprise me either, to see Oisin in for Jellis tbh

Has to be Hall starting or what is the point of the loan?

Could well be, but given that Comley isn’t available, and MS’ high regard for Oisin, it wouldn’t surprise me to see him start in front of the back 3 and Hall come on later in the game.

I wouldn’t…. But don’t mind for one game.

However if it’s a feature going forward… I’d be really concerned…

Or he could just play him in his best position.

As good as Williams has been this season, McEntee is still easily our best defender in my opinion.

Or Williams AND McEntee?

Yes, definitely both. Williams centre, McEntee right side.

I’m thinking:

Simkin
Okagbue Daniels Allen
Barrett Adomah Stirk Lakin Gordon
Matt Lowe

The question is who will replace Jellis?
We need someone we can rely on to do the hard graft.
Hall, Earing, McEntee or Adomah?

I think Adomah, but only Sadler knows.

My concern is with our lack of possession we’ll be pushed back into a back 5 and a midfield 3 close to the defence leaving lowey and jamma isolated. We MUST keep the wingbacks high as possible to win this game or it could be a long night. Come on you Saddlers!!!

I think tonight will be:

Simkin

Dave Daniels Allen

Barrett Earing Stirk Lakin Gordon

Jamma Lowe

I would go:

Simkin

McEntee Williams Daniels

Adomah Hall Stirk Lakin Allen/Weir/Gordon

DJ Jamma

It’s a really tough one and this is where Sadler earns his corn. He needs to rest Barrett and Gordon (Barrett more so), but does he do it both at same time or just one? I think he might stick and not twist… ?

Think Lowe can’t play every game as well… looked tired Saturday. I have had the revolutionary idea of putting a centre forward up front instead of a 37 year old winger :grimacing:

Midfield… I’d be at peace with Earing Stirk and Lakin - but wouldn’t be surprised if Hall (or even McEntee) comes in as a one off until Jellis is back fit.

Really interesting night ahead! I think we need to win really, and then a draw is a nice result on Saturday. Let’s be positive and take the game to them.

I think they will have a lot of possession which may or may not work in our favour. Positive is that’s the way we are used to playing, and hitting teams on the counter… the negative is that it will involve a lot of running and pressing in a tired team. That’s why I think we need to freshen it up, or use our subs earlier than usual.

Good luck with that, perhaps we could ask County politely for the ball occasionally, because we won’t see it otherwise.

Tonight will be hard work, I can see why some folk say Barrett, Lowe etc need a rest but think they have to start tonight if we are serious about 3 points.

With port vale coming up too this is a real test for Sadler. Will be interesting to see what happens.
